[00:00:00] Speaker A: Wvuafm Tuscaloosa.
[00:00:10] Speaker B: Hey everybody. Thank you so much for listening to 90.7 the Capstone. We are now starting the student section. NFL. My name is Tanner Thompson along with Connor Rolls, Evan Cisneros and Alex Brown. Fellas, before we get into our new two minute segment that I'll introduce here in a second, how are we doing?
[00:00:28] Speaker C: Horrible, man. Bad football week. Hurricanes did good. Alabama horrible.
[00:00:35] Speaker B: They sure.
[00:00:35] Speaker C: I mean Miami horrible. We need an offense, but Alabama needs an offense. Miami needs an offense. It's just bad, bad, bad, bad week for me.
[00:00:43] Speaker B: I got it. Connor, how you doing?
[00:00:45] Speaker A: A lot better than Evan.
[00:00:46] Speaker B: Still significantly better.
[00:00:48] Speaker A: Alabama football was a huge disappointment, but yeah, Eagles first 20 point win in almost two years. So yeah, exciting.
[00:00:55] Speaker B: Almost two years.
[00:00:56] Speaker A: I did not know that. Yeah. NSC championship game against the 49ers was the last one.
[00:01:01] Speaker B: Right. I forgot didn't have a quarterback. We'll discuss that later. Alex, how you doing, man?
[00:01:06] Speaker D: Invigorated.
[00:01:08] Speaker B: Invigorated. I love it.
[00:01:09] Speaker D: I'm inspired by the Steelers play on Sunday night. They surprised me even with their play. Russell Wilson looked fantastic on Alabama's front. I think I was definitely disappointed. And Alabama's performance. I have a buddy, one of my best friends goes to Tennessee.
[00:01:24] Speaker C: Boo.
[00:01:24] Speaker D: And it was, it was tough to see those text messages during and after the game. But I'll tell you what I feel. I think Alabama could still make the playoff. They have to be in the top 11. Remember now because we have a group of five team going in at 12, but I think if they went out, they'll be in the top 11.
[00:01:40] Speaker B: I think they got it. I agree again, but they have to win out and it's not a, you know, cupcake schedule for their win out. So it's, it's. We'll try not to discuss. I want to.
[00:01:51] Speaker C: I have something to say on the topic of text messages. I went to high school in Tennessee.
[00:01:55] Speaker B: Let's make it quick.
[00:01:57] Speaker C: I have a friend who went to Vanderbilt and that text message was rough. Oh, I can only they didn't even know they beat us. I texted my said I got beef with you today. And he said, why Evan? He didn't even know they played a football game.
[00:02:09] Speaker B: I was furious. Oh, man. That makes it worse with. I'm glad everyone's doing okay. At least on average. Okay, I think.
[00:02:19] Speaker A: Tanner, how are you doing?
[00:02:20] Speaker B: I'm doing pretty good, man. I appreciate it. I appreciate that a lot. Not much to look forward to from a team's perspective. The Thunder. The NBA season starts tonight and The Thunder are by far the best team that I root for right now. So that's.
So that season starting. I can be pretty optimistic about that. There you go. That's. That's my, that's my best sport mood. But, but yeah, if everyone's doing all right, we got to get into our again our new segment that we're going to introduce. We're going to call it something along 2 minute drill. I think it's a pretty good name for it. We're just going to kind of get a quick summary, slash, score breakdown of not so breakdown but box score kind of thing for every game that happened this past weekend. And Connor, or excuse me, Evan, I think we're going to start with. You hit us with that Thursday night game. Denver, New Orleans. Right.
[00:03:04] Speaker C: So Denver won 33 to 10. Rookie continues to, you know, keep the boat afloat. That New Orleans offense that started so hot looks putrid. And they're just one of the worst offenses in the league.
[00:03:16] Speaker B: Yep.
[00:03:17] Speaker C: I mean, maybe second worst to the Dolphins right now, but we'll get into that later. And then the next game we had was in England between New England and Jacksonville, which I love. Drake May's presser in that they said why should the. Why should the Englanders vote be fans of New England? And, and he said, well, I think you got it right there. It's in the name. And our colors are red, white and blue.
[00:03:40] Speaker B: There you go.
[00:03:40] Speaker C: Anyways, they got beat by 16 points, 32 to 16. Jacksonville maybe saved their coach for at least a game.
[00:03:48] Speaker B: Probably. Yeah.
[00:03:49] Speaker C: And, but I mean, Drake May looked good. He had almost 300 passing yards. That team's just bad though.
[00:03:55] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:03:56] Speaker A: All right, so moving on, you know, down in Atlanta, Seattle came down. You know, both these teams were kind of on the opposite sides of the spectrum. Atlanta was kind of just really hot. Seattle's coming off a three game losing streak. Seattle bounced back. They got the huge win in Atlanta, 34 14. It was tough to see DK Metcalf, you know, go out with an injury and get caught off the field, but I'm pretty sure he's going to be okay. Shoots a sprayed mcl and feel like Atlanta's got to find a way to get back on track. And it was a good look for Seattle and you know, going back, going all the way up to Buffalo, you know, it wasn't really a competition. We know it was Tennessee at Buffalo and I don't think anybody expected Tennessee or Will Levis or I don't know if Will ever started the game. And Mason Rudolph came in. Or if it was just Mason Rudolph the whole day. All I do know is Tennessee sucks. Buffalo is still really good. Amari Cooper looked great after his first game and I'm excited to see where Buffalo can go building upon Amar Cooper's.
[00:05:00] Speaker C: Debut, especially when he learns his routes.
[00:05:03] Speaker B: That's. That's a good point.
All right, let's move to Alex. You've got Cincinnati and Cleveland. What was the story there?
[00:05:10] Speaker D: And a big AFC north matchup and the Bengals and Browns. Joe Burrow 1 and 6 against the Bengals. The Browns in his career heading into Cleveland on Sunday. DeSean Watson goes down for the Browns. Going in was Thompson, Dorian Thompson. Robinson, formerly of ucla, goes into the game for the Browns. Not much doing there offensively. Once again, Bengals, after a shaky performance by Joe Burrow, just 181 yards passing, they get the victory over the Browns. And then going to Green Bay where the Green Bay packers defeated the Houston Texans in a big win off of a game winning field goal by Brandon McMahon who was not even on a team prior to last week when Green Bay signed him. And he comes in and he kicks the game winning field goal to put the packers over the Texans. Packers five and two. Looking good. Jordan. Love three touchdowns.
[00:06:06] Speaker B: Absolutely love it. Evan keeps rolling with Miami and Indy.
[00:06:10] Speaker C: I think we hit a brick road with that one. Offense for Miami started out looking decent. The run was going really well. Fumble bug just came to bite them. Kept on running bad plays. I'm not going to get into it too much. Offense looked horrible. Anthony Richardson, his first game back, he did look really shaky to start, but man, that guy is just so strong and big. He can run over anyone. I think he broke a tackle from Calais Campbell. Jalen Ramsey, these are not easy people to get away from. So passing started out rough, definitely got stronger. The Colts, I wouldn't say this is a great win for them because Miami's a bad team, but definitely a step up from where they have been.
[00:06:47] Speaker B: Absolutely. Yeah.
[00:06:48] Speaker C: And then next we had another battle for the north in Detroit or I'm sorry in Minnesota. And this was, I mean probably tale of two titans. The two best teams in the NFC total. And Detroit came in there very close game. 31, 29 and just all around great game for the Detroit offense. Jared Goff, almost 300 passing yards. Jameer Gibbs, 116 rushing yards. A Monroe St. Brown, 112 pass receiving yards. They got the job done in a very tough environment.
[00:07:20] Speaker B: You're against that heck of a defense too. Connor. Keep us rolling with fortunately, your team.
[00:07:25] Speaker A: Fortunately. And fortunately, it was a pleasure to watch this team this weekend. Still no points in the first quarter, but it was, like I said, the first 20 point win since the NSC championship game last year. Excited to see what we can build upon this. Saquon Barkley looked amazing. Jalen Hurts looked better. The offense looked better. Defenses slowly coming together. And now back in Los Angeles, you know, Las Vegas at Los Angeles, when I tell you this game was not good, you can believe me because both quarterbacks sucked. Maybe one was missing their two weapons in Cooper cup and Pukinakua and the other one just got benched like Garden Minchu who threw it three interceptions. If you didn't watch this game, you didn't really miss anything.
[00:08:05] Speaker B: Don't look up the highlights.
[00:08:07] Speaker D: Here's another one that's just like that. Panthers and Commanders. Panthers. Panthers were just. We're awful. They were. They're completely. It looked like they're playing a different sport rather than.
[00:08:19] Speaker C: The Commanders Keep piloting it on.
[00:08:21] Speaker B: Come on, man.
[00:08:22] Speaker D: I should say so bad though it was. It really was awful, to be honest with you. The commanders 40 points in that game despite losing Jane Daniels to a rib injury early in the game.
[00:08:34] Speaker B: And Marcus Mariota still stepped in and absolutely diced up that he was great.
[00:08:39] Speaker D: 18 of 23, 205 yards, two touchdowns. And hopefully Jaden Daniels will be back this week for his rookie matchup against Caleb Williams.
And that's gonna be a big game. We'll talk about that here in a moment. And Commanders put away the Panthers 40 to 7. They are 3 and oh at home on the year so far. Chiefs and 49ers a big game on the weekend. And the Chiefs maintain the number that they have On Kyle Shanahan's 49ers 28:18 victory by the Chiefs. Another not so good game by Patrick Mahomes. He's thrown more interceptions that he has touchdowns so far through his first six games of the season. And that's never happened before for a quarterback, for a team that's undefeated up to this point in the year. And it's. They remain to be the last undefeated team in the NFL after six games.
[00:09:32] Speaker B: Wow. Alex, why don't you take this next game too? You deserve it.
[00:09:35] Speaker D: Why not? I'll take it. The Pittsburgh Steelers 37 to 15 victory over the New York Jets. Fantastic second half by the Steelers, 24 points in the second half. They were down at halftime to the jets. But the change in the offense, they made the adjustments they needed necessary. And George Pickens was woken up by the play of Russell Wilson. Russell Wilson looked great in his debut this season, especially not for playing for 11 months. And Russell Wilson might be the thing that the Steelers need to put them back into playoff contention.
[00:10:08] Speaker C: Championship contention. In Mike Tomlin's.
[00:10:11] Speaker D: I'm not going to go there yet.
[00:10:12] Speaker C: Hey, I'm quoting Mike Tomlin.
[00:10:14] Speaker D: But they certainly have an opportunity to do that, especially roughing up a good jets defense.
[00:10:21] Speaker B: Absolutely. Evan hit me with that. One of these last two games.
[00:10:24] Speaker C: I was excited to watch this Tampa Bay game. They came in looking pretty strong. My Baker Mayfield had a great throw to Mike Tomlin early that would have put them up. Mike Tomlin, excuse me, Mike Evans.
[00:10:36] Speaker A: Mike Tomlin out there.
[00:10:38] Speaker D: I didn't catch that out there.
[00:10:39] Speaker C: It wouldn't be his first play on the field, but to Mike Evans in the corner of the end zone. Unfortunately Mike Evans got hurt, the cornerback got hurt and it took. I'm not sure if the corner was out for the rest of the game, but Mike Evans was out for the rest of the game and right from there just went downhill. Baltimore was. Man, they got a pick. Maybe two or three plays later they flipped the field so fast, maybe 30 real time seconds passed from the time they went from their 20 yard line to the opposing 20 yard line.
[00:11:10] Speaker B: They really figured out how to use Lamar and Derek Henry really well.
[00:11:13] Speaker C: And one name I see. People will talk bad about Lamar's receivers and rightfully so. They haven't been fantastic. Yeah, but Rashad Bateman has been phenomenal. Every game I've watched from the Ravens, he makes plays. If he gets open on a slant, he's breaking a tackle and he's getting. At least he's getting down the field. Yeah, but Tampa Bay had a late rally, couldn't put it all together. They lost by 10, Baltimore 41, Tampa Bay 31.
[00:11:39] Speaker A: And for the final game of this Monday night doubleheader, you had the Cardinals taking on the Chargers in Arizona. And this game was. There were a lot of yards put up during this game, but I mean still not a lot of points. Justin Herbert 349 yards and Kyla Murray 145 yards to the air.
And he also had that huge run that resulted in a touchdown that I think I want to say like 40 something yards. But basically this game came down to how dominant James Conner was near the end in that game winning drive. So even though this was not the best looking score bug, I will still say it was still an entertaining game to watch.
[00:12:15] Speaker B: Yeah. The receiving leader being Will Disley is my, my favorite takeaway from this game.
[00:12:20] Speaker A: Yeah, it was, it was a pretty odd, pretty odd game. But yeah, it was still fun.
[00:12:26] Speaker B: Yeah, there's our, there's our full slate covered a little bit more in two minutes. We'll work on getting that time down as we get better at it.
[00:12:33] Speaker A: But, but yeah, like Dak Prescott, Mike McCarthy with handling the clock.
[00:12:37] Speaker B: Exactly, exactly.
[00:12:39] Speaker C: Or putting zeke in with 40 yards to go.
[00:12:42] Speaker B: Oh yeah, letting him snap the ball. That's a, I'll never forget that play. But, but yeah, again, it's not maybe, maybe not the best week, weekend slate of games we have seen in the NFL. And especially over the past two weeks prior, we had a really good couple weeks.
[00:12:58] Speaker A: We were definitely spoiled.
[00:13:00] Speaker B: We really were. And it felt like especially I want to say two weeks ago, sitting through that Sunday slot, it just felt like if you were on red zone, you had the whole time there was four different angles up of four different game winning field goals. It was an unbelievable week. But again, you can't get that ever out of every week in the NFL. And yeah, it's, I think one of the biggest storylines I kind of want to get out of the way and also before we go to break is with Devonte Adams. Obviously he joined the jets and we've already discussed that a little bit, I think, but not exactly the result that the jets were hoping for. And to a pretty significant extent, as Alex already discussed for us 37 to 15, they got a really good defense over there in Pittsburgh, but I think a lot of people are expecting a little bit more than 15 points from this jets offense.
[00:13:42] Speaker C: Especially Breece hall being their receiving leader with 100.
[00:13:46] Speaker B: Exactly.
[00:13:47] Speaker A: I'm not personally complaining as a manager of Breeze hall, my fantasy league, but I will say I was expecting more between the connection between Devontae Adams and Aaron Rodgers and I was kind of expecting a just more engaged jets team in general. Just because I feel like when you, once you make a big acquisition like that after a team has been struggling or even in the past years, you would see teams when they fire their head coach and the intern comes up, they would then win a string a few games together just to rally behind the guy.
[00:14:20] Speaker B: Right.
[00:14:21] Speaker A: But I mean, I guess the jets still can't really figure out how to do that correctly.
[00:14:25] Speaker B: It wasn't great that they're again that they're, you know, Aaron Rodgers and Devontae Adams first debut and well, obviously not.
[00:14:31] Speaker A: First debut but season debut together.
[00:14:34] Speaker B: It's tough to do that against the Steelers. That is one of the best defenses in the league right now, but their tackling is insane.
[00:14:40] Speaker C: Yeah, I'm really upset because two former Dolphins this past year, Orlandon Roberts and Mink. Well, I guess Mink Fitzpatrick too.
[00:14:48] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:14:48] Speaker C: But I was trying to say desean Elliott. Yeah, man, he got in the backfield so fast. There were a couple runs where Breece hall had either a gap or he was just like taking his time looking for a gap and he was about to burst it because he's got that speed. Desean Elliott was just there before anything could happen.
[00:15:05] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, that is a coherent, maybe not coherent, but a very cohesive defense over in Pittsburgh.
[00:15:11] Speaker D: But I feel great about this team, guys. I really do. I'm not good enough to say championship contender, but at this point I. We're getting. We're moving towards that point. We're not. We need another piece on offense. Our offense is not. That's not sustainable.
[00:15:25] Speaker A: We could talk about that after break. There's something I want to bring up.
[00:15:30] Speaker B: To you after break, but yeah, with that we'll continue our conversation, I guess on the outlook of the Steelers for rest of the season. But for now, we'll be back in just a few minutes.
[00:15:50] Speaker A: Wvuafm Tuscaloosa.
[00:16:03] Speaker B: Hey everybody, welcome back once again to the student section NFL. I. I don't want to waste too much time here. I really want to continue what we started to talk about before break and Alex's prompt of Pittsburgh needing one more weapon, in his words. And Connor, you can do the honors. But I believe that there is a weapon that just potentially became available today.
[00:16:23] Speaker A: Yeah.
So the Rams are calling other teams and saying hey, Cooper cup is available for trade. I would love for a second round pick. That's their asking price right now. And I feel like the Steelers need that one guy that could, you know, not only be kind of the slot guy but as well as just the separation creator that they don't have really right now because there's a lot of guys that I don't say a kind of gadgety like Austin, Calvin Austin, but you also have a guy like George Pickens who is great at the, you know, he has. His ball skills are amazing.
[00:17:01] Speaker B: He's such a great ex.
[00:17:02] Speaker A: He know he's amazing. But they're missing the Y. They're missing the other guy on the other side of the field that can be like the Chris Godwin to the Mike Evans or be the Devontae smith to the A.J. brown. So getting. I mean I'm not saying it will happen, but I think Cooper Cup Landing in Pittsburgh would be amazing for not only Russell Wilson, but just Pittsburgh in general also.
[00:17:24] Speaker B: I mean for the sake of the run game like, you know, they obviously use him well in LA in the. He's one of the best run blocking receivers in the league and I'm sure that Mike Tomlin is licking his chops thinking about that.
[00:17:35] Speaker C: That run game looked great in Pittsburgh.
[00:17:37] Speaker D: It did. It was Dottie Harris. Another good game. But he's only good when Jalen Warren is. A lot is in the lineup. Jalen Warren only had 44 yards rushing. But Najee Harris is completely different when he's not there.
[00:17:48] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:17:48] Speaker D: Different now he's got. He has 200 yard games with him in the lineup just in the last two weeks.
[00:17:52] Speaker B: Why do you think that is?
[00:17:54] Speaker D: I think it takes the heat off him a little bit. I mean Jalen Warren, when he's out there, he's still. He got how many. He got 12 carries last game. That's 12 carries that you could take off a Najee Harris shoulders.
[00:18:03] Speaker B: Absolutely.
[00:18:04] Speaker C: You're not going to land a hook if you can't throw a jab.
[00:18:06] Speaker D: And I honestly think it's gives him more competitive fire just because he wants that ball. And there was a conversation last year that Jalen Warren should be the number one back. But Najee Harris reasserted himself in that offense and he's. He's not a Le'Veon Bell type running back. If you remember him from the Pittsburgh Steelers where he would stop and he would wait and then he would choose from there where he wants to go. But he would. Najee Harris is not a guy that can wait. He's a guy that's right down your throat. That's a Pittsburgh Steelers type running back.
[00:18:39] Speaker B: Absolutely.
[00:18:39] Speaker D: And we're happy to have him. I'm concerned about Cooper Cup. I don't think. I don't think he's a guy that will break the bank for. I don't think we'd give up a second round pick for Cooper cup just because he's not necessarily what we normally have as a Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver. And I always say it's. You don't want to be stuck in the past, you don't want to be stuck in tradition. But at the same time that's the way the organization is. It's very historically run.
[00:19:06] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:19:07] Speaker D: It's a family business. They do it like Art Rooney the second will do it. Al, his dad did it.
[00:19:12] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:19:13] Speaker D: And that's just how it's going to be. And they're not Going to break the bank form. I would, they would never do a second.
[00:19:18] Speaker B: It's what three coaches in 55 years for.
[00:19:21] Speaker D: Exactly.
[00:19:22] Speaker B: That's exactly.
[00:19:22] Speaker A: Absolutely impressive. So I have a question, Alex.
[00:19:25] Speaker D: Yes.
[00:19:25] Speaker A: Say Cooper cup develops some kind of something wrong like CTE or like something where we go.
[00:19:35] Speaker D: I'm saying, like we would not.
[00:19:37] Speaker A: I'm saying, you know how Mike Talman always has one of those receivers where.
[00:19:41] Speaker C: Oh my gosh, always talking about let him finish this.
[00:19:45] Speaker A: Like not drama, but you know, always a guy that posts on, you know, social media, you know, kind of Drew Smith. Yeah. Just guys who.
[00:19:54] Speaker B: Yeah, the only example I was trying.
[00:19:56] Speaker A: To say guys like Antonio Brown, Judas, Ms. Schuster, you know, Deontay Johnson was like that. Markavis Bryant. Cooper cup needs to become one of just, you know, a diva after he doesn't, you know, get the targets he wants. Just post like Jalen Polk did with a piece emoji in the dot, dot, dot.
[00:20:12] Speaker B: Jalen Polk posted that.
[00:20:13] Speaker A: Yeah, after the game.
[00:20:15] Speaker B: That's funny.
[00:20:15] Speaker A: But I do, I do know what you're saying about this whole second thing. I just wonder where is that other receiver going to come from?
[00:20:25] Speaker D: We need somebody, we really do. I was thinking more Mike Williams. We all need someone to be a star for us. We need someone to go down the field and maybe get a couple of jump balls. And that's something that Mike Williams has not done a good job at this season. But I think we could afford the price. Mike Williams won't be more than a fifth round pick at Talks tops Generators. We could really use somebody that could be like that because George Pickens plays a very similar style to that of Cooper cup, except Cooper cup, as you mentioned, more of a slot guy, but he's going to get you that separation. But we need somebody that can free up Pickens to be that guy.
[00:21:00] Speaker B: Right.
[00:21:01] Speaker D: And somebody that can go down the field and get those 50, 50 balls, which Pickens can do. But I'd prefer him to be a guy that can catch 8 to 10 passes a game rather than someone that you're lucky to get six.
[00:21:12] Speaker B: Also, if nothing else, you just want, you want that kind of play to come from multiple places. You know what I mean? If you're running, if you're kind of, you know, something that Russell Wilson thrives in. It's just, especially in the Steelers, how good their run game is, the play action, you know what I mean? If you're sending guys deep on play action, you don't want them to always know that Pickens is the deepest, biggest threat in that scenario. But. And it will be interesting to see, you know, if they do add that one more weapon. Pickens really hasn't had a chance to really operate in a Swiss army knife role. So it'd be really interesting.
[00:21:39] Speaker D: I was thinking about where else could cup go? Where else could he go? The betting favorites. The Chiefs.
[00:21:45] Speaker B: That it.
[00:21:46] Speaker D: And I tell you what, if the Chiefs got him, I think we might as well just not do another show.
[00:21:51] Speaker C: For the Rams sake. For the. For the whole NFL sake. They would not.
[00:21:55] Speaker D: That would be just.
It'd be like punching the game. Like if the NFL became a person.
[00:22:03] Speaker C: It's like giving Muhammad Ali brass knuckles.
[00:22:06] Speaker D: Exactly. It would be just a knockout punch to the league. You can't put Cooper cup in that offense.
[00:22:12] Speaker C: Yeah, Randy Moss in 2007, but where else.
[00:22:16] Speaker D: Who else would be somebody that would take him?
[00:22:19] Speaker A: I would say a team like San Francisco who just lost their wide receiver too.
[00:22:24] Speaker C: NFC West.
[00:22:25] Speaker A: They don't have to afford him, though.
[00:22:27] Speaker D: I would caution.
[00:22:28] Speaker B: No.
[00:22:29] Speaker A: Yeah, they can't. That's true.
[00:22:31] Speaker D: Steelers can afford Cooper Cup.
[00:22:32] Speaker A: Washington.
[00:22:34] Speaker D: Washington, maybe.
[00:22:35] Speaker A: That would be interesting.
[00:22:36] Speaker B: Washington interesting. Actually, this is just a personal favorite for me because I feel like Carolina, the. No, there's. He just has no reason to go there. But I think. I'm not sure what the Lions cap situation is, but I think Ben Johnson would have an absolute field day. Jameson Williams potentially is going to be suspended for two games.
[00:22:54] Speaker A: Two games.
[00:22:54] Speaker B: Only two games.
[00:22:55] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:22:55] Speaker B: And he's been like, they're really kind of forcing JMO to be that number two guy right now. And he's having success some games, but he's been a pretty inconsistent guy. And I just feel like Ben Johnson and the kind of offense that he runs, I think looking at a literal Swiss army knife in Cooper Cup, I think that would excite me a lot. But it's a very similar role to what Alvin Roth brings to that team as well.
[00:23:19] Speaker A: What would also be very interesting is I know we're talking a lot about Cooper cup and a lot about receivers that are going to be traded, but there's also one name that's floating around with a team who has been struggling mightily so far this year. No, not Tyreek Hill.
[00:23:34] Speaker D: That should be another.
[00:23:35] Speaker A: It would be interesting to see if DeAndre Hopkins gets moved and where he goes if he does end up getting moved, because I feel like a team like the Kansas City Chiefs, who. I don't think D Hop will have the price range that Cooper cup would have. I think that's one they will Definitely monitor.
[00:23:53] Speaker D: So let me give you a name for. Not a name, but a destination maybe for DeAndre Hopkins.
[00:23:59] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:24:00] Speaker D: I think the Dallas Cowboys. I think he would be a great fit.
[00:24:05] Speaker B: I think that makes sense to me. Yeah.
[00:24:06] Speaker D: And they can afford him. He's not terribly expensive.
[00:24:09] Speaker B: Absolutely.
[00:24:10] Speaker D: He could be great in that offense as he. A perfect compliment to CD Lamb. And Dak Prescott needs someone else to throw to.
[00:24:16] Speaker B: He really does. They just need another guy. He's just feeding it to CD and.
[00:24:21] Speaker A: It'S just so can Dallas actually afford him though? Because I know. I mean, I'm guessing they have the draft capital to get him.
[00:24:28] Speaker B: Absolutely.
[00:24:29] Speaker A: But I mean, I feel like the contract situation in Dallas is just insanely bad, I guess. And they would have to D. Hop.
[00:24:36] Speaker B: Would have resigned.
[00:24:39] Speaker A: Last year is when last year. I know he signed the contract last year, but his.
[00:24:43] Speaker B: I mean his contract can't be. Don't get me wrong. And the Cowboys don't have a lot of room at the same time. But I don't think that his contract is going to be ridiculous.
[00:24:51] Speaker A: Oh no, I don't think it's ridiculous. I'm just saying whether they want to they. Dallas has used up so much money already. I mean you could already see they couldn't or either they couldn't or they just wouldn't get anybody in free agency this year besides maybe one or two pieces. And they already broke the bank on CD Lamb and Dak Prescott and they still got to break the bank on Micah Parsons if that's the case. And so I don't think they have the financial flexibility to do that when you still know you have people to pay.
[00:25:17] Speaker B: Right.
[00:25:17] Speaker A: So I don't know if they would really go into that, especially if Jerry's all in is just sitting back and signing Eric Kendrick's. So I now they can't afford them.
[00:25:28] Speaker D: Dallas has about. I'm going to say they definitely. They do have some cap space. Dr. Hopkins contract or cap hit for this year is about 18 million. About 18 million.
[00:25:40] Speaker B: 18 for DeAndre Hopkins. That's significant.
[00:25:42] Speaker D: They've already paid him. I mean he's already. You're already seven games into the season.
[00:25:46] Speaker B: That's true.
[00:25:47] Speaker D: And Tennessee can absorb a little bit of that if they were asked.
[00:25:51] Speaker B: They do decide to move for a.
[00:25:52] Speaker D: Better pick, they can take that, send him back the other way. But Dallas can afford it.
[00:25:57] Speaker B: I really do think they could.
I don't know when is the someone remind me of when the trade deadline is.
[00:26:03] Speaker A: It's the Tuesday after week eight.
[00:26:05] Speaker B: Tuesday after week eight.
[00:26:06] Speaker A: So it's this Tuesday.
[00:26:07] Speaker B: Gotcha. That it's usually a somewhat exciting thing. I'm not going to say it's quite to the level of like the NBA can be in terms of their trade deadline and stuff, but it definitely hasn't.
[00:26:17] Speaker A: Been to that level of excitement that we have seen in the past few trade deadlines.
[00:26:23] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:26:24] Speaker A: But hopefully, I mean, there are a lot of teams that are really bad and have no future even though coming into it thought they would be. So I'm excited to see where the big names go if they do end up getting moved.
[00:26:36] Speaker B: Yeah, no, I absolutely agree.
Well, yeah. Any other big storylines we want to get into before we start discussing next week?
[00:26:45] Speaker C: Injury went around really bad this week.
[00:26:48] Speaker B: That's true.
[00:26:48] Speaker A: That's true. As of. I want to say in maybe an hour ago, Alvin Kamara signed a two year extension to say with the New Orleans Saints. So I know people. There were a lot of rumors going around saying how people are going to be looking to see if he wants to get traded. Camara shut down the Zoomers and it's now official that he's here to stay in New Orleans.
[00:27:07] Speaker B: Yeah, that guy, he'd be a weapon for a lot of teams, man. He is. He is an unbelievable player. But again, it would be weird to imagine Kamara not in a Saints jersey.
[00:27:16] Speaker D: And it comes a week after David Montgomery signed a contract extension to remain in Detroit.
[00:27:22] Speaker C: Yeah, Knuckles, you got.
[00:27:24] Speaker B: You gotta love how David Montgomery, he was a pretty. He was dummy. Wrong. Very good back in Chicago. But it's just that Lions, they're just the perfect team for him.
[00:27:33] Speaker A: I think it. Yeah, no, I think it's definitely the run scheme that helped like I guess prove how good he is. But I feel like it's also just a change of pace back with Jameer Gibbs that kind of just evaluates the ultimate everything.
[00:27:46] Speaker B: The ultimate one, two punch. Is there a better duo?
[00:27:49] Speaker A: I don't think Sonic.
[00:27:51] Speaker B: Yes. Knuckles and Sonic. But is like, is there really a better running back duo in this league right now?
[00:27:56] Speaker A: I don't think so.
[00:27:57] Speaker B: It can't be. Yeah. Good for the Lions, man. I don't know how much of it is due to Ben Johnson because they've got a heck of a scheme over there and it just feels like it's something new every week.
[00:28:07] Speaker A: I know.
[00:28:07] Speaker B: With some wild play that we see and they're wrong. I'm jealous.
[00:28:11] Speaker D: But did y'all, did y'all see the Browns fans reaction to desean Watson getting hurt?
[00:28:17] Speaker B: Yes. Yes, we did. You see James, James, Winston's reaction to classy response.
[00:28:23] Speaker C: I love Jameis Winston.
[00:28:24] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:28:24] Speaker D: And I respect the class from Miles Garrett had a nice response as well. Called him a model citizen.
[00:28:33] Speaker A: The Miles Garrett part was funny because I do remember he said he's been a model citizen. Model citizen. Yeah. Most of his pro career.
And I will say, even after all the jokes and stuff are made, it's still. That's one thing you never wish upon anybody is an injury like that. So, yeah, it does suck.
[00:28:51] Speaker D: But the Browns fans are scumbags.
[00:28:53] Speaker A: They are. I mean, it's. I don't want to say they are, but I mean, it's.
[00:28:57] Speaker B: It almost feels like it's fundamental to the organization, you know, that's.
[00:29:00] Speaker D: That's Cleveland for you right there.
[00:29:02] Speaker A: That is why we're talking about we're going Cleveland now.
[00:29:05] Speaker B: We're taking no bird and LeBron. We gotta remember this is a Steeler fan talking. But keep.
[00:29:10] Speaker D: You keep that in mind about the worst franchise and maybe the history is.
[00:29:15] Speaker C: Wow.
[00:29:15] Speaker D: The Cleveland Browns, you have to consider.
[00:29:17] Speaker C: Have they made a championship in never since the merch. Wow.
[00:29:20] Speaker D: Never ever.
[00:29:20] Speaker B: Wow.
[00:29:21] Speaker D: Never will ever.
[00:29:22] Speaker C: Oh, my gosh.
[00:29:24] Speaker D: They're that bad. And their ownership is awful. Their fans are pathetic.
[00:29:29] Speaker C: Keep going.
[00:29:30] Speaker D: They have. They have one of the worst.
I lost my train of thought.
[00:29:35] Speaker C: My bad. You got to do this.
[00:29:37] Speaker B: Don't worry. It's funny. He lost his train of thought, but he knew it started with they have one of the worst. That was a safe bet, no matter where.
[00:29:43] Speaker C: One of the worst winning percentages of all time. For sure.
That's actually one of the worst track.
[00:29:49] Speaker D: Records with picking quarterbacks ever.
[00:29:51] Speaker C: Of course.
[00:29:51] Speaker D: But think about this from the fans perspective. And I never sympathize with the Cleveland Browns fans. When they got Deshaun Watson, that symbolized hope.
This guy is going to change our franchise. He's going to make us instantly super bowl contenders. Yep, instantly. And now he has been just awful. Awful. And they gave him. The owner, gave him 250 million guaranteed.
[00:30:19] Speaker C: Largest contract.
[00:30:20] Speaker D: The largest guaranteed contract in history of the NFL. And he's been awful.
[00:30:26] Speaker B: He's.
[00:30:27] Speaker D: He represented hope. And now he is despair.
[00:30:30] Speaker C: Rightfully so. But look how fast the fans turned on him. Same with Baker, who was the savior of their franchise. Yeah, my whole Life growing up. One in 15. Oh, and 16 horrible teams there. The entire 2000 and tens. Baker gets their playoffs in what, first, second year, and they had winning seasons. As soon as he hit a slump, boot him out of the town. Boot him out of town.
[00:30:51] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:30:52] Speaker C: Same thing going with desean Watson. And that just. I mean, it really does show the culture of the city to some point to just pour it on your team while they're already down.
[00:31:02] Speaker A: I will say there is a difference between Baker Mayfield having two or three really good seasons and then the first sign of trouble in that one season, boom, out of town.
[00:31:10] Speaker B: Right.
[00:31:10] Speaker A: And then desean Watson, they're coming in supporting him and even supporting him through his first full year, which he was probably statistically one of the worst quarterbacks in the league. And it just kept continuing to get down, go downhill and so different stories. But yes, it's still terrible to boost somebody like that.
[00:31:28] Speaker B: Absolutely. Just for reference, the Browns in all time in the NFL are 20th in overall win percentage at.491.
[00:31:37] Speaker D: Keep in mind that team has been around.
[00:31:39] Speaker B: They've played a lot of games.
[00:31:41] Speaker D: Jim Brown was on that team.
[00:31:43] Speaker B: Exactly. I can actually.
[00:31:44] Speaker C: Jim Brown was that since the merger or all time.
[00:31:48] Speaker B: All time. So it's not since.
[00:31:49] Speaker C: So since the merger.
[00:31:50] Speaker B: Even worse. Yeah, I would say so. Brown's. I've got it sorted for me. I just can't find the actual team. They are, I'm going to say around 10th in all time games played.
Bears are at first, Packers, Cardinals, Giants, all those guys.
[00:32:04] Speaker D: But yeah, Jim Brown retired in 1965.
[00:32:08] Speaker B: In 65. 1965.
[00:32:10] Speaker D: Oh my goodness. He was 29 years old at that time too. But yeah, they're just awful.
[00:32:19] Speaker B: They just are. They just can't get it figured out.
[00:32:21] Speaker D: They really are.
[00:32:22] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:32:22] Speaker D: There's no other words.
[00:32:24] Speaker B: They're just so bad.
[00:32:26] Speaker D: And you look at the disparity between the Browns and the Steelers, they're two hours apart. The cities. The cities are two hours apart.
[00:32:33] Speaker B: Oh, wow.
[00:32:33] Speaker D: You have fans that are within. In the suburbs of Cleveland.
[00:32:38] Speaker B: Right.
[00:32:38] Speaker D: They're Steelers fans. You know why? Because they recognize winning. They don't. They don't. They don't want to attach themselves to something that's as volatile and as awful as the Cleveland Browns franchise. And they're smart.
[00:32:52] Speaker A: Well, I will say I know somebody who's from Pittsburgh and is a Cleveland Browns fan.
[00:32:55] Speaker D: Well, that person's range.
[00:32:58] Speaker B: I have never heard of that my even happen.
[00:33:02] Speaker C: There are people I don't know. This is off topic. But Miami, they're from Miami and our FSU fans. That's disgraceful. It makes me sick.
[00:33:09] Speaker B: Makes more sense.
[00:33:10] Speaker C: No.
[00:33:10] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:33:10] Speaker A: No.
[00:33:11] Speaker B: It's the same state it does over the past decade. It makes more sense.
[00:33:15] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:33:15] Speaker B: But over the past. Any span of time it does not make sense for a Pittsburgh native. Native to be a fan of a.
[00:33:23] Speaker C: Team with six less championships.
[00:33:25] Speaker B: I didn't think that was possible. But. But yeah, with that we should go to Ray for a little bit. When we come back we are going to start talking about next week and we're also going to update our rankings a lot. A few changes this week.
[00:33:36] Speaker A: Some people add one significantly. That one significantly ranking did not change.
[00:33:42] Speaker B: Yes, but we'll talk about the weekly total as well. Who had the best week overall. But with that we'll be back in just a few minutes.
[00:34:05] Speaker A: Wvuafm Tuscaloosa.
[00:34:16] Speaker B: Hey everybody. We are back once again. NFL student section and like I promised before break we are gonna break down our again our weekly competition that we have first. I'll just go ahead and go through what our. I guess we should talk about what our points were before going into the week. Connor, do you have that?
[00:34:33] Speaker A: I do, yes. So are we talking about what it is right now?
[00:34:38] Speaker B: We're saying points going into this week. Oh, points.
[00:34:41] Speaker C: It was Connor.
[00:34:43] Speaker A: It was me at first with 15 and then it was everybody else tied at 10.
[00:34:48] Speaker B: Everybody else had 10 and that's gonna. It's funny, it makes my scoring a lot easier to explain. But yeah, everybody at 10 except for Connor at 15. But I'll go in order for overall success this week like I said I would before. Evan, he was, he was one for five this week. First and something not his strongest week. He is the first name mentioned. So it's like the opposite of last but not least. You know what I mean? First but least.
Then we've got Alex coming at 2. He was 3 for 5, so a good jump above.500 and that's going to put him at 13 total points. Excuse me.
Then again, this is in terms of weak performance. Connor, you went three for five and that will put you at 18. Still leading the overall total for the season.
[00:35:32] Speaker C: And last but not least, and last.
[00:35:34] Speaker B: But definitely not least me who went 4 for 5 this week for 14 total points. I won't, I don't want to take too big of a victory lap but I'm 9 for 10 in the past two weeks.
[00:35:44] Speaker A: That is something to be proud of.
[00:35:45] Speaker B: It's been a good couple weeks for me.
[00:35:46] Speaker A: That one week set you back a lot.
[00:35:48] Speaker B: It really is. I went over five and then I went five for five and four for five and then two weeks after. So I don't, I can't really explain it but that is where we're at. We do have our games picked for what we're going to do next week. We do have a lot of time to go over those games. So if you guys are interested and we can just kind of go game by game and just talk about how we're feeling about each one and we'll make our picks at the end. Still, just for the sake of simplicity and we can all write it down at the same time. But let's talk about Commander's Bears, which ideally will be a rookie matchup.
[00:36:22] Speaker A: Hopefully.
[00:36:22] Speaker B: Hopefully if Jaden Daniels can move past his I believe, rib injury that we believe is not serious.
[00:36:29] Speaker C: Also, according his mom tweeted out yes.
[00:36:31] Speaker B: According to a tweet from his my.
[00:36:32] Speaker C: Baby is fine that she so Jane.
[00:36:35] Speaker A: Thank you for the quote. Evan.
[00:36:36] Speaker C: Oh no, that was. That was for me.
[00:36:38] Speaker B: That was my direct quote. That. And so that means that obviously not a serious injury, but it definitely means it's still up in the air for his game this, this upcoming week. But overall, assuming let's, I guess we can discuss it, assuming both QBs play, how are we feeling about this matchup overall?
[00:36:57] Speaker C: I love the Commanders. I've been saying it since the Dolphins are being really bad. I'm not saying I'm bandwagon, but wow, I'm bandwagoning for the Commanders right now. That offense has been hitting even with Marcus Mariota stepping in and they clowned me for saying that. Jaden Daniels reminds me of Drew Brees, but I'm talking about just the throwing. When he finds that quick first read, first, second read and just gets it out really fast on some very accurate pass across the middle or just on a checkdown. That reminds me of Drew Brees and it makes the offense keep moving because one of the worst things you can do in the NFL is be stagnant if you go backwards or have negative plays or just if you're going third and 10 too often, you're not going to be winning a lot of games.
[00:37:46] Speaker B: Right.
[00:37:47] Speaker C: That team is ahead of schedule all the time and just keeping the ball pushing downfield, which I love. And the Bears have been hitting. They've been, excuse me, picking it up over the past couple weeks, too. This is a great matchup. I'm still riding with the Commanders on this one, though. I guess we're going to save the picks for laters. But good offensive matchup.
[00:38:06] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm excited for this game because I do think Washington and Jayden Daniels in particular have been getting a lot of media about how good he's been doing. And I mean, I will say he has faced a ton of terrible defenses to start off his career.
[00:38:21] Speaker B: And also, I mean, it should be said Cliff Kingsbury is doing a heck of a job.
[00:38:24] Speaker A: Oh, no, without a doubt. He's doing a heck of a job. He's doing a great job at offensive coordinator.
[00:38:29] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:38:29] Speaker A: Yeah. Pretty much getting Jenny Daniels in the right situations, getting him prepared each week. I mean, he's looked great against the Bengals. That was an electric game.
Great against the Cardinals, great against the Browns. He kind of had an iffy day against the Ravens that, that last week. And then before getting injured, you know, the Commanders beat the Panthers. But the one thing I see in common are just not good teams and pretty bad defenses.
[00:38:56] Speaker B: So specifically pass rush because the ball, Baltimore's got a very stout defense, like solid run D and you know, pretty good secondary, but they are missing the actual, actual guys that are going to.
[00:39:06] Speaker A: Go get at the quarterback 1,000%. So I think that's going to be a huge thing to watch out for with this because I do think Caleb Williams has been a lot better than he was the season. He keeps growing gradually. That's also because he hasn't really played the toughest opponents such as Jaden Daniel. So I think it's going to be a fun true like finally baseline test of where each team is at and I'll save my pick for later.
[00:39:32] Speaker B: Yeah, good call.
[00:39:34] Speaker D: I'm excited about this matchup too. And I like that it was flexed by CBS into the prime time slot.
[00:39:39] Speaker B: Right.
[00:39:39] Speaker D: 425 Eastern, 3:25 Central Time. And it's going to be a great game. It's going to be. I think it's a huge game for Caleb Williams in particular to reassert himself as the best quarterback drafted in this year's draft class because he needs to reclaim that title back from Daniels. And I hope Daniels plays. I think he will. And it's. It might come down to in the end, the running backs in this game.
DeAndre Swift has done a lot better the last three weeks in the three games that the Bears have won consecutively in running the ball.
[00:40:13] Speaker B: Right.
[00:40:14] Speaker D: And it's really helped Caleb Williams out a lot too as the quarterback. And Brian Robinson's not been bad at all this year for the Commanders either. So he. If he has a good game too, we could be looking at a game where the quarterbacks are freed up to do a lot more because of the plays of their running backs.
[00:40:31] Speaker B: Right. It's. DeAndre Swift would be a huge piece. And again, he has been a very. I mean, frankly, it's inconsistent. He just hasn't been he hasn't been an efficient runner over the course of the season. He's put together a few good games. In their last game was against Jacksonville. That is a very poor defense at the moment. And the game before that was the Panthers, which is an even poorer defense in my opinion. And also I'm just to go back one or two more. It was Rams and Colts before that. So from a rushing defense perspective, DeAndre Swift has been able to put up some big games not against my favorite run defenses in the NFL. But the Bears, they've got a pretty good defense across the board. Of course I think pretty just overall talented team and yeah that DeAndre Swift I absolutely believe will be the key to all this and also Brian Robinson. But yeah, again we'll make our picks later once we're getting towards the end just to have it all continuous. But after that we've got what in a lot of years would be a really great matchup for different reasons than.
[00:41:34] Speaker A: I think be the game of the week.
[00:41:35] Speaker B: Exactly. With Dallas and San Francisco. Again in many years we were like oh wow, maybe potential NFC championship preview, things like that. But both of these teams have had quite uncharacteristic seasons thus far, especially in the regular season. But yeah, how are we feeling about this one?
[00:41:52] Speaker C: Both teams really need it. They've looked absolutely not good. I don't think Dallas played this week. Am I wrong about that?
[00:41:58] Speaker A: They had, they did have a buy.
[00:41:59] Speaker B: Dallas and Chicago had a bye whooped by the Lions.
[00:42:02] Speaker C: I'm sure we all saw that. If we didn't see that, we saw the box score. Box score didn't even tell the full story. They stomped on them and just kept their foot on the throat.
[00:42:10] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:42:11] Speaker C: So Dallas, they need to reassert themselves. The 49ers, they, you know, they just aren't the same team offensively especially with IU going out now we're seeing Jawan Jennings might be their number one receiver.
[00:42:26] Speaker B: Obviously I do think that Debo, he was, it was a sickness.
[00:42:29] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:42:30] Speaker B: Very last minute poll so I believe he will be playing. And also Ricky Pearsol is in the lineup so that's something that is, that's a first round.
[00:42:38] Speaker C: But these names compared to all the offensive weapons they've had in the past. We're talking about Ricky Piersol compared to Iuk, Debu, Debo, Christian McCaffrey. It's just not the same team. So this is a game they need to win. I still think they're a better team than the Dallas Cowboys, but we're going.
[00:42:56] Speaker B: To see Yeah, I think that defense is just what puts them way over the edge comparatively to Dallas.
[00:43:01] Speaker A: But yeah, I was really all I have to add up on that is like Evan said, both these teams really need it. Both these teams have been one, injury prone and two just kind of very lackluster. And I think the one team that kind of separates both of these teams is coaching.
[00:43:19] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:43:19] Speaker A: And I. I just can never really trust Mike McCarthy in a real big game.
[00:43:24] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:43:24] Speaker A: And there's really nothing to take away other than that.
[00:43:28] Speaker B: To be honest, if there's anything that Shanahan's going to do, it's going to be come in with a really good offensive game plan. It just seems to be the one thing that he can do no matter what. And again, with a successful running team like the Niners, that is not a successful run d in Dallas. So that's a pretty tough setup.
[00:43:45] Speaker D: I thought Kyle Shanahan got completely out coached again this past weekend and that's fair.
[00:43:50] Speaker C: Oh no.
[00:43:50] Speaker D: By not just Andy Reid, Steve Spagnolo and also crushed him defensively.
[00:43:55] Speaker B: Steve Spagnolo has had Shanahan's number like you said earlier, I believe for years of field service.
[00:44:00] Speaker D: Yes, for years. So I'm not convinced in Shanahan's ability to conduct this offense without his stars. Without his stars, it's a completely different offense. As you said, Brock Purdy needs them. He needs them and I feel like Dallas coming off the by, they have a lot to prove. They have a lot to prove and they really need a victory. As to the 49ers, but you look at Dallas, that division slipping away a bit with the Commanders continuing to stack on wins. The Eagles aren't bad either this year. You still have to play the Eagles twice. You still have to play the Commanders twice. They need to stack on wins not that are not in the division as soon as they can. And this is a great opportunity against the 49ers team that they've met in the playoffs in the past couple years.
[00:44:45] Speaker B: Right.
[00:44:45] Speaker D: And if they can continue to.
If they can continue to try to work on that offense, the offense has to be better. Dak Prescott needs to be the best player on the field if Dallas is going to win the majority of their games this season. Yeah, he's got to be the best player on the field. I think he will be.
[00:45:03] Speaker B: Yeah. 100%. I we'll talk about two more games and one of them can be Arizona and Miami. Let's make.
[00:45:11] Speaker C: I just want to bring up Tu is coming back from his concussion. I'm expecting this offense to turn around very heavily.
[00:45:17] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:45:18] Speaker C: A couple years ago. Rookie. Oh man.
[00:45:20] Speaker B: Sorry.
[00:45:21] Speaker C: Headphone feedback Sorry.
Rookie to his rookie year. His real breakout game was against Cardinals and I hope it's the same. More of the same because we really need it.
[00:45:33] Speaker B: Absolutely. Again, real quick thoughts. Let's get Bill Seahawks and we'll do Bengals Eagles Real quick after that.
[00:45:38] Speaker A: Bill Quick thoughts for Bill Seahawks. I think this will be a fun matchup. No DK Metcalf this week. So I think with all that being said, I can expect the Bills defense to do what they usually do and Amari Cooper to I would think have another big game.
[00:45:53] Speaker B: Just hopefully just keeps integrating to that offense. Just slowly but surely. Yeah, I guess. Evan. Excuse me, Alex, do you have any thoughts? Bengals Eagles.
[00:46:04] Speaker D: Bengals Eagles. I really think the Eagles had a great game against the Giants and I think that Nick Sirianni had a good game coaching as well. There was no drama in that game and I think that the Mike's Saquon Barkley was Mike during that game.
[00:46:20] Speaker B: He was.
[00:46:20] Speaker D: And he came over and he talked to Saquon towards the end of that game. Just saying he was about 13 yards, I believe away from getting his career high and rushing.
And another fact about Saquon in that game, a little quick stat. Saquon had the second most rushing yards in a revenge game, if you will, in NFL history with 176. The only player with more was in 2009, Cedric Benson, who was played with huge name the Bears.
Exactly. Cedric Benson played with the. It sounds funny to even say Benson. He played with the Bears.
[00:46:58] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:46:58] Speaker D: And then he went to the Bengals. Played the Bears that season in 2009. Absolutely. And he had 189 rushing yards.
[00:47:06] Speaker B: Connor's talked about how the Eagles like to plan out these revenge games. They do usually.
[00:47:11] Speaker C: That's the Boston Scott game, isn't it?
[00:47:13] Speaker A: It is. But I think we found a new giant killer.
[00:47:15] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:47:16] Speaker A: I think he's here to stay.
[00:47:18] Speaker B: Absolutely.
[00:47:18] Speaker D: I think Nick Sirianni's on the right starting to get on the right footing here and I think it with another nice game against the Bengals. The Bengals are their offenses flighty. We'll see what happens. I think the Eagles will do pretty well.
[00:47:30] Speaker A: I'm excited for the island Quinion Mitchell to get his hands on his next victim.
[00:47:35] Speaker B: Oh yeah. Because anytime we really calling Quinn Mitchell the island already?
[00:47:40] Speaker A: Well, no, I just, you know, I. I said that because looking back at every game so far, Quinon Mitchell hasn't allowed. I think it was over three Receptions. I don't think he's allowed three receptions when targeted so far each game in his career. So I'm excited with how that's going to turn out. But let's get to these picks.
[00:48:00] Speaker B: Absolutely. I guess we'll go ahead and start with Evan first and go clockwise around the room. Evan, hit me with commanders. Bears.
[00:48:06] Speaker C: Commanders.
[00:48:07] Speaker B: Commanders.
Connor, what do you think?
[00:48:09] Speaker A: Bears.
[00:48:10] Speaker B: Bears for Connor. Alex.
[00:48:12] Speaker D: I like the Bears. Think Kayla Williams has a big game.
[00:48:14] Speaker B: Alrighty. I am going to take the commanders. Let's. Let's start the opposite way. I guess I'll start this one with Dallas and San Francisco. I'm going to go ahead and take San Francisco for this game.
[00:48:25] Speaker D: I'm going to go with Dallas again.
[00:48:27] Speaker B: Dallas again.
[00:48:28] Speaker D: I pick Dallas again.
[00:48:29] Speaker B: Faith is back.
[00:48:30] Speaker A: Don't make that same mistake.
[00:48:32] Speaker D: I actually think this game, it will not be a blowout as that Lions Dallas game was. Dallas needs this as much, if not more than the 49ers.
[00:48:42] Speaker B: Absolutely.
[00:48:42] Speaker D: And I think they will get it.
[00:48:43] Speaker B: Absolutely. Connor.
[00:48:45] Speaker A: Niners. Sadly. I mean, this is a game I don't like in general. I wish both teams could either tie or lose.
[00:48:50] Speaker B: I wish both teams could lose.
[00:48:52] Speaker C: Evan, I'm going to take America's team getting creamed. Go, Niners.
[00:48:57] Speaker D: I thought you were going to take that.
[00:48:58] Speaker B: Go Niners. All right. We did not get to this game, but Falcons, Bucks. What are our picks for that? Evan hit me.
[00:49:04] Speaker C: Bucks. I think both teams had kind of an uncharacteristic day on offense. Yeah, Falcons got smashed by the Seahawks defense, but I think the Bucs.
[00:49:14] Speaker B: Bucks for Evan. Connor, what are you thinking?
[00:49:15] Speaker A: I think it's going to be a Falcons win and I don't really think it's going to be particularly close without Mike Evans and without Chris Godwin.
[00:49:21] Speaker C: Oh, my gosh. I didn't even think.
[00:49:22] Speaker D: You can't go back.
[00:49:23] Speaker C: I'm not going back. I'm not going back.
[00:49:25] Speaker B: It's way too late. Alex.
[00:49:26] Speaker D: Falcons for the same reasons.
[00:49:28] Speaker B: Falcons for the same reasons. Love it. I am also going to be doing.
[00:49:30] Speaker C: The same Bucky Irving legacy game. Legacy game.
[00:49:33] Speaker B: I sure hope so. Let's bill Seahawks. I guess I'll start this one as well. I'm going to go and take the Bills.
Alex, what are you thinking?
[00:49:40] Speaker D: I like the Bills too. The Bills are going to keep rolling and this time they're going to roll through Seattle.
[00:49:44] Speaker B: Love it.
[00:49:45] Speaker A: I'm going. Bills.
[00:49:46] Speaker B: Bills. Makes sense. Evan.
[00:49:48] Speaker C: Clean sweep.
[00:49:49] Speaker B: Clean sweep. There we go. Last one. Bengals. Eagles. Connor, let's let you start this one just for kicks.
[00:49:55] Speaker A: I think we've been on the right track since the bye week. I think it's only going to continue to grow. Give me the Eagles.
[00:50:00] Speaker B: Yep.
[00:50:00] Speaker D: Alex, this is a tough one.
[00:50:03] Speaker B: It's a tough one. I'm not sure yet.
[00:50:05] Speaker D: I'm gonna go with the Eagles as well.
[00:50:07] Speaker B: Eagles for Alex. Evan, what are you thinking? Eagles. Ooh, I don't know if I want to go clean sweep here, guys. Maybe this is just for the sake of the show. I'm gonna go ahead and go Bengals. You know, I don't want multiple sweeps for picks this week.
[00:50:19] Speaker A: I think you only did this because if the Bengals do end up winning this game, you'll have that one thing to hang over.
[00:50:25] Speaker B: I sure will. And that'll put me ahead. That would be a pretty nice feeling for me. But. But, yeah, picks made again. The scoreboard's changing a little bit. Places are moving around. But. But, yeah, hopefully this is a slightly more exciting week of football than we had last week. But regardless, we'll be seeing you guys here next Thursday, right at 7:00. Thank you.
