[00:00:00] Speaker A: Wvuafm Tuscaloosa. Ladies and gentlemen, it's a Friday night here in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. We are student section College Football. We are your host, Josh Shepard, alongside my boy here, Devin Hughes. Devin, it's a Friday, my boy. How you been doing, man? [00:00:26] Speaker B: Well, I'm just happy it's finally the end of the week, man. It's been, it's been a rough week. But you know what? We gonna push through. Hey, man, we got to look forward to college football coming up, man. [00:00:34] Speaker A: Absolutely, man. And our other co host, Graham Bocco, he's still not here at the moment, he's not in Knoxville, but we are praying for him right now. He is in the hospital. We are not too entirely sure what it is that he has or what kind of illness he has, but we're praying for your buddy. We hope you can keep on fighting and we, we hope that you're doing well, man. We love you, buddy. We'll. We'll keep on fighting for you, man. But there's a lot to discuss, man. There's a lot to discuss, especially from week 8Y and I mean, I think we have to start with the one that we have to start. We have to start with Alabama living. [00:01:09] Speaker B: In the room, man. Alabama, Alabama, Alabama. [00:01:14] Speaker A: I'm not even going to stay real time, man. There's just nothing to be happy about. There's no rolling Tennessee, man. [00:01:21] Speaker B: We can't win in the state of Tennessee. What it seems to me to lose in Knoxville like that, man, it's just truly another heartbreaker. I mean, we go into these last play games and you see what happened. Georgia went to last play, South Carolina went to the last play. This one. Third time's the charm. Not for us. We finally got us. Finally got us, man. [00:01:46] Speaker A: Well, let's go over a few things with this game. And so we, we talked about, you know, how atrocious we believe this defense could be. But if you actually go back and watch this game, I do think the defense played good football. I mean, I think Womack, he did come up with a good scheme for the majority. I mean, you know, there's a lot, a couple of plays in there that, you know, you kind of have a little bit of a head scratcher for and you look over a bottle and that kind of stuff and you say, wow, what, what, what happened here? But I think for a majority of, for what we saw of how usually Tennessee's offense is, I think Bama did come to play. I mean, they had two interceptions. They had a good a Couple of fumbles in there. They had three sacks on Nico. That's a really good game from defense. But let's talk about, let's talk about Jalen Milro. Let's talk about the guy that after the Georgia game I was very excited about and I'm not too entirely sure what's happened to him. [00:02:44] Speaker B: Yeah, man, put away the polish. I don't think you're getting the Heisman after that performance. [00:02:48] Speaker A: He does not even. He's not even catch a scrap of the Heisman, man. [00:02:53] Speaker B: Because this, the game was very, very disappointing from Jalen. I mean, he just. What ticked me off during the game is that at this point everyone knows he wants to pass it to Ryan Williams. We all know his age at this point. It's old. Like you've got tons of weapons you can use. You've got Jeremy Bernard, you've got Kobe Prenants, Kendrick Lawrence. But we can all see you're. You're literally just trying to get to Williams for whatever reason you're at Alabama throw. We're known for having plenty of our receiver. He's not the only option. You can do it. And I do feel that's one reason why Alabama could not get the win. Because it's like we're in a system now. We're a machine where it runs through one person and it's not the way it be. Yes, it worked then, but it doesn't mean it's going to work now. Williams is clearly a target. So they're going to do everything. They're part of the Scott Williams and if you're not focused on any of your other ones, how you're going to get, you know, how you will improvise and get the offense to work. I was very disappointed. I am proud of the defense. I'm still not a fan of the Womack's scheme or whatever, but I will say the players, the players made the plays. I would say on defense it was the players that stood out and not Womack. [00:03:58] Speaker A: I agree with you on that. I think though too is that what we're watching with Milro is he is. He is really trying to push the ball down the field at times where he does not need to. [00:04:09] Speaker B: Yep. [00:04:11] Speaker A: What we see with Milro is the two big things that he is excellent at is running with the football and throwing the deep ball. And I don't know about you, Devin, but I rarely ever saw him throw a deep ball in that game. [00:04:26] Speaker B: You didn't. [00:04:27] Speaker A: I don't really see much of it at all. But the Thing about it, that's. That's his main point. His main point is to throw the deep ball and a couple times there would be a perceiver wide open. And yet the problem with it is he is. Maybe he is too much a part of the system where he is trying to go down for the supposed first read kind of play instead of going with his guts and seeing the read better. And I mean that's the problem. I mean he had two interceptions that or horrible the first one to. In the end zone. I don't understand it. You are in the end zone. Your best bet is to run the football. Jill Milroe has probably stronger legs. That's kind of a reach. Probably about. He's got good strong legs like Jalen Hurts who push up the middle and he just never did that. They just tried to force the ball through the air and they didn't need to do that. Yeah. [00:05:23] Speaker B: And I don't understand why we weren't running the ball. Because at some point, I think it was second half, third quarter, we were running the ball efficiently, we were getting it done. Then we just stopped. Like, what are we doing, man? Like, if it works, it works. Let's keep going. We've got Jan Miller just as Hayes, two talented, very talented running backs that we could use in our system. Let's go back to classic Bama running the ball. I don't understand why we can't. Why we always got to pass it, get in the game. We're throwing all verts or whatever. I just, I don't understand why we need. I know the Boers from the PAC 12, but look, we're in the SEC. The PAC 12 offense, PAC 12 system, PAC 12, whatever. It's not going to work in the SEC. And another thing is discipline. The team is not disciplined. There's like, I just, I can't stand to see an undisciplined team. It's where it all starts. It starts with the simple things. You can tell the team is sloppy. They weren't as bad as other games, but you can still see the cracks in the system. Saban would not allow that. But with DeBoer, the bower needs to get on about getting his team disciplined because Pac12 football is not going to get us anywhere in the sec. [00:06:27] Speaker A: I agree completely. And I think though what we see with the game is it's a bit bipolar because the best I've seen the offense do was against Georgia in the first half. [00:06:37] Speaker B: Yep. [00:06:37] Speaker A: The game was. It was a lot more of taking shots down the field as well, as playing the smart ball of getting the better routes to your receivers. And that's what I like. Because the thing about is you want to get the ball to your playmakers, but at the same time you want to spread the field. [00:06:54] Speaker B: Yes. [00:06:54] Speaker A: If you want to spread the field, you're going to find little poles inside of the, of the defense to get the ball to. And that's what they did really well with in the first half against Georgia. We didn't see that much in the second half, but you get what I'm saying. [00:07:06] Speaker B: Yes, exactly. [00:07:07] Speaker A: And after that point on, you rarely ever saw much more of that kind of offense ever again. And I mean it's. I think since South Carolina, the offense has not been good at all. It's all a bit about getting the lucky plays off. It's been all about. I feel like Jalen Milroy was trying to do too much. [00:07:25] Speaker B: Yes, exactly. [00:07:26] Speaker A: He's doing way too much because he gets sacked on some place where he should probably just take it off with his feet. He is, he's in his head too much and he needs to start slowing down the game a little bit more. [00:07:37] Speaker B: Earlier in the season we were praising him for his decision making. He's like, okay, he's grown from last season. He's making the smart decisions, he's making all the right moves. Then I don't know what Georgia did to him in the second half and then on. But his decision making hasn't been the best at all. Like he'll run, then it'll be like, you know what, I'm gonna throw it down the field. Like, dude, once you make your decision, stick with it. I mean, you either got it or you don't. And he's second guessing and stuff and it's shooting himself in the foot. [00:08:01] Speaker A: The thing about him is that he needs to find his identity with an offense. As a quarterback. He is from one part of the series he looks like he's trying to be a running back to the next part. He's trying to throw the football like he's Michael Penix. Yeah, that's what you keep on seeing a lot of. He hasn't found a rhythm at one of these spots. The thing is, once you find one of these spots, one of these little areas that you identify as a quarterback with, then you can start to work towards that and then work on the other things around it. If you don't do that and you keep on trying to look for it during a season where it is your money year to go to the NFL because Likely saying he probably will go to the NFL after the season. [00:08:42] Speaker B: Oh, absolutely. [00:08:43] Speaker A: He has to show he's got a lot of talent, but he has to show why he could be more decisive, know when to be able to make the right plays and just to not get in his head too much, but just slow down. You get what I'm saying? [00:08:56] Speaker B: Yes, absolutely. And for Tennessee, this will be their second win last 10 meetings that Tennessee's looking like they want to fight in this rivalry because it's been a very, very one sided rivalry lately in Tennessee. Knoxville. They even sent the goal post out to the river. [00:09:13] Speaker A: That was kind of crappy, man. [00:09:15] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, but it's Tennessee. What do you expect? [00:09:17] Speaker A: They want to smoke a joint and then go and take down the goal post. And that's just. Then again, yeah, you're right. It's Tennessee. They do things differently out there, man. [00:09:25] Speaker B: But yeah, Alabama, I mean, they've got to get their act together. I mean, with another game. We'll talk about later, the SEC is, It's still open, apparently. I mean, we've got A M in first place, which. [00:09:41] Speaker A: Who would have thought, who would have thought that the ATM would have made it to the first place spot? I'm not gonna trash talk a whole lot because that's gonna come up to the rest of the show because that game between them and lsu, because they're both on the feed in the sec, playing this game right here, will probably decide potentially the SEC championship game. [00:10:01] Speaker B: Yep. [00:10:02] Speaker A: And that's crazy to say by two teams who lost first week of college football that they are, they are. This, this is an insanely important game. This game could have potentially been, you know, college game day, but not, not gonna do, you know, back to back. Absolutely. But this game is so important for so many aspects and we'll talk about later on, but man, Alabama. What the heck, man. [00:10:26] Speaker B: Yeah, Alabama. I don't know what's going on. This is not Alabama. Like I said, Alabama is not Alabama. [00:10:30] Speaker A: Al. Probably should have lost South Carolina. [00:10:33] Speaker B: Oh, thanks. The last play, I, if it would have happened, I would have been like, well, I mean, look at that. [00:10:37] Speaker A: If they had a kicker who had at least a decent leg, not from one from Dollar General, they probably would have made that kick. I love the Dollar General. I love you. But I will say this though. Alabama, I know it's the first season with a new head coach, a whole new resume, but at the same time, you have so much talent all around your team that you don't look competent enough to compete this season. They're not making the playoffs. They're not. [00:11:04] Speaker B: It's not looking likely unless everyone starts losing. [00:11:06] Speaker A: I know people want to put their hopes and hope and faith towards hopefully this team. This team does not need to make the playoffs. It doesn't. What will we. What will we accomplish with the playoffs? Oh, we made the playoffs. Congratulations. We'll probably get beaten up in the week. [00:11:21] Speaker B: The first round one. [00:11:22] Speaker A: The first round to BYU of all teams, probably. And that's it. I think this is a year where, you know, deboer and even like Nick Saban did his first year in 2007, you have to get under. You have to understand the system. You have to understand the recruiting. You have to understand the coaching. You have to understand the environment and culture of the SEC that has not been, you know, completely understood by the board in his very first year. And he has to work on that. [00:11:49] Speaker B: I will say this. With this season, the way it's going, we are seeing the real Alabama fans and who's phony. So if you're a real Alabama fan, you know that, you know that, you understand that this is going to be a part of having a new coach. And for many fans, they don't like that. But if you're going to be a true fan, you got to trust the system. [00:12:05] Speaker A: You've been pampered for way too long. You're like the Patriots fans after Tom Brady left for the Buccaneers. You're like, that's how you feel. You feel so good. And it comes down and think about it. Nothing good lasts forever. [00:12:21] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, you're right. [00:12:22] Speaker A: But that's okay. Because the thing is with everything, you have to have a new era. Yeah, you have to have a new era. You have to have a new change for some things. And that's okay because for this, you know, this is a completely different type of culture for Alabama. They have an office of mind, a head coach. They have a coach that, you know is going to bring in, you know, a new type of, like I said, like a new type of culture. And that's what you need because, I mean, you cannot replace the goat. Nobody can replace the goat. Alice Bear. Brian. [00:12:54] Speaker B: I mean, pops about resurrected and comes. [00:12:57] Speaker A: Out of the grave saying, I'm a winner. I can come back to the ground. And he comes back in there, he starts winning more than daddies. You're not going to get much. [00:13:05] Speaker B: Yeah, you're right. [00:13:06] Speaker A: You got. You got to be humble with what you have right now. With right now, what you have. Because the thing is, when Melroe leaves When some of these players all leave, you know, who do you have next? And that's where you have to cheer. That is where Bama fans have to go and be humble and say, okay, let's move on to the very beginning. [00:13:28] Speaker B: I was blessed to be born into the Saban era. I was only born what, a year before he came. And I understand, even me, I understand like, look, this is going to be. [00:13:36] Speaker A: I look old man. You're making me sound old man. [00:13:39] Speaker B: This is going to be different. We are not going to be going to Natty's SEC championships every single year. And I understand that well, as an Alabama fan born in Alabama, you got to understand that, you know, we're not. It's not going to be like how Nick Saban had it. Things are going to be different. And if you're going to be a Bama friend, unfortunately, I hate to break it to you, but get ready for those losses and it's just going to be the way it's going to be. [00:14:05] Speaker A: So speaking of teams that probably should have more losses, let's talk about the Miami and Louisville game. Miami is something else. But I think, you know, I think before we roast the crap out of them for not having enough losses and having overrated wins, I think we should have a little check. Breaking commercial. [00:14:23] Speaker B: Yep, we will be back right after the break. [00:14:36] Speaker A: Wvuafm, Tuscaloosa. [00:14:47] Speaker B: We are back. And you know there were more games than Alabama and Tennessee Jazz. Josh mentioned he was going to lead us into the Miami and Louisville game. How are you feeling about that one? [00:14:58] Speaker A: I love Cam Ward, but golly, Miami is so overrated. They're so overrated. They have a solid offense but this game that they should have lost, the referees have a bet, a prize pick on them and they don't want them to lose. But we will say this though, the game between Miami and Louisville was a good game. [00:15:15] Speaker B: Oh yeah, it was a really fun game. [00:15:17] Speaker A: Let's kind of go over the stats by both quarterbacks. Tyler Show Louisville's quarterback 31 for 51, only 20 incompletions, 342 yards passing and four touchdowns. Same thing go for Cam Ward. 30 or 21 for 32 for 319 yards and four touchdowns. I mean that's the all around good game for the quarterback. This was a straight up PAC12 type of game right here where there is absolutely no defense and you have two stud teams who have really good offenses cooking. Even heck, former Alabama wide receiver Jacquard Brooks, he had an amazing game. He has six receptions for 107 yards and two tough shows. They'll feed families. But, I mean, you guys say that this game, though, very good all around. But there's been so many people have been discussing this. It's just how good really is Miami. How many times have they gotten away with a win because of the referees? What do you think about that? [00:16:15] Speaker B: I will say this, Miami, you've been saved by the bell once again. Miami, I'm going to be honest, did not deserve to win this game. But in races, man, the fastest runner wins sometimes. And sometimes it's the one who, you know, slow and steady and paces itself and runs with patience. But this time it was more of a sprint than a marathon. And Louisville cannot keep up with Miami. I mean, the refs were, you know, a little. [00:16:42] Speaker A: The refs were beating the refs. [00:16:43] Speaker B: Yeah. But Miami, they just scored more points than the end. That's the way I see it. Louisville could not keep up. They couldn't get those stops on defense to eventually take the lead. They did get a pick, but they didn't capitalize off it in the end. [00:16:56] Speaker A: Now, let me tell you this. Florida State has the funniest chance. [00:17:01] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. [00:17:01] Speaker A: To make the biggest upset of all time, no matter the sport. I don't care what anybody says to me. I actually, I will say this to my family who did talk. Who did talk to me about this. I will take back my statement about what I said with Alabama. Vanity being that being the biggest upset of all time in college football career because Vanny is now ranked. [00:17:24] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:17:25] Speaker A: And there, there is snowballs in hell right now because that has never been seen before. But Vanny is now ranked. They are on fire right now. Knock on wood. And I'll tell you about my statement. Vanderbilt is a very good team. Appalachian State being Michigan, is still the number one up there because that's just that. You don't ever see that. That's the equivalent of watching an ant take down a camel. You don't ever see something like that. You know what I'm saying? However, Florida State are so bad, are so overrated that they probably spent more money, more time and more effort into a court case against the NCAA and the College Football Playoff committee than they are with their own season. DJU has yet to figure out how to put their hand on the laces and throw a football correctly. They're all their backup. Backup quarterbacks can't back up nothing without a throw to the dirt. But we have the opportunity to witness maybe the funniest game in Florida History. [00:18:28] Speaker B: Oh yeah. [00:18:29] Speaker A: This is a way for Mike Norville to probably make a few more dollars before he probably gets fired. [00:18:34] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:18:36] Speaker A: If Florida State beats Miami. Okay, just, just, just put us in picture. [00:18:42] Speaker B: Okay. Okay. [00:18:43] Speaker A: If Florida State beats Miami, first of all, all of Miami would be as probably as. They're probably as horrified as watching a chew a tongue of a low injury. But I mean we won't discuss much about that. But at the same time, it would be the funniest loss. And then you have Pitt, who is undefeated. [00:19:06] Speaker B: Yes. [00:19:06] Speaker A: Who has an amazing quarterback, a stud defense. They're number 19 in the nation. Probably come up and take their spot potentially because how would you ever imagine seeing Pitt. Not a lot of people who ever thought they would ever get this far. Maybe one of the four seeds in the college football playoffs. [00:19:25] Speaker B: Wow. Pitt partying like it's 1982 with Dan Marino. But yeah, Florida State, man, it was last week, right. Lost to Duke for the very first time in college football history. So the beat Miami after this, that'll really say something that'll give Florida State. I mean it doesn't have any anyway, but any credibility for this season. [00:19:49] Speaker A: If they can't show they can be good playoff game. The best thing they could do for the world is just be Miami. [00:19:54] Speaker B: I mean it's their rival. At the end of the day, you've. This game's. You've got to care about this game. If you don't want to win any game, this is the one you gotta want to win. [00:20:02] Speaker A: Absolutely. I mean, let's go over a few things here. This is going to be a hard rock stadium. This is a game that Miami is coached by Mario Crucible. [00:20:12] Speaker B: Yes. [00:20:13] Speaker A: This is a game and a half that I think this could be a trap game. [00:20:19] Speaker B: Trap game? [00:20:20] Speaker A: I believe so. It makes no sense saying, oh, Florida State, what that crap was of Seminole. Oh, wow. Yeah. I think this is a trap game. I think Florida State, they're going to bring up some of their younger guys, some of their freshmen, some of their true freshmen. I think they have a chance to be in this game. I don't think. I think, you know, Miami has been saved a few times and over that. But this is a trap game. I think so. I mean I really do think so. Speaking of a trap game, that would have been a trap game and been a good side. Was Auburn doing what Auburn does best and that is having a lead and then blowing the lead once again. Call it 2016 Falcons for all we see or 2017 Falcons, good Lord of mighty. And they lost In Missouri. I mean, Devin, how pathetic has Auburn ever been since probably after their last national championship team? He's even speechless. [00:21:20] Speaker B: Y'all, I'm like, you see me in the studio just jaw dropped, like, I have to think about what to say because this Auburn team, I don't know. How can you get the lead? This is the, what, third, second time? I don't even know. Oklahoma, Missouri, some other scene. This is what Auburn does. [00:21:36] Speaker A: Oklahoma, yeah. [00:21:37] Speaker B: They get the lead. You're doing fine. You know what? We're playing like a football team. Then not even a third quarter, but fourth quarter. It's like, well, our job's done. Let's go home. Let's party. We won the first three quarters, lose to Missouri, and I was back home with my mom. I said, look, I know you better turn the game off so you can watch Louisville in Miami, but I'm going to tell you right now, Auburn going to lose his game. She's like, really? [00:22:02] Speaker A: What? [00:22:03] Speaker B: Hi, mom, by the way. And like I told you, I said, ma, Auburn going to lose his game. I know it's looking like Auburn, like, but Auburn going to lose his game. By the time Miami, Louisville come off tickets, say 2417 Missouri. I said what I tell you, Ma, didn't. Didn't I say. Didn't I say that? [00:22:23] Speaker A: I. We will say it each and every single week. Auburn has talent. They have talent. They have young talent. There's no doubt about that. But what the heck is a quarterback? They don't have a quarterback. They'll have a coach who can coach. If he does coach good, he puts all them on self. He doesn't. He blame the janitor if all he cares, man. That's who he is. I mean, I really think Aubrey could be a good team. All they need to do. Listen, Devin, this is. I'm going to teach you how to become a good team right here. [00:22:56] Speaker B: Okay? [00:22:56] Speaker A: Okay, talk to me. First and foremost, you go and hire an up and rising offensive coordinator or defensive coordinator from either the Big Ten or from a top SEC school. [00:23:07] Speaker B: Yes. Yes. [00:23:08] Speaker A: You drop about eight bags on a transfer quarterback from probably, I'd say, let's put it hypothetically, let's say for some unbelievably odd reason, Avery Johnson from Kansas State decides to hit the portal and goes to Auburn. [00:23:30] Speaker B: Okay? [00:23:31] Speaker A: They drive a bag to get Prince Charming to come over there to Auburn, Alabama. And you recruit good. You recruit and get some good players. And guess what? Congratulations. You have made the 10th seed. You probably make a couple of weird plays. You hire Hugh Freeze. Hugh Freeze is probably coaching as the backup kicker offensive coordinator spot for Kennesaw State right now. But you're a good team because you have good young players. You have. You know how to utilize them, and that's how it's done. Auburn sucks. That's just it. Oh, my Lord. Shout out to Devin's mom and shout to my mama, man, we love y'all, man, oh, man. All right, let's talk about one other game though, before we go on break here. All right. I think it was the one that Kyle Field was off in. A little bit of a surprise. Texas and Georgia. [00:24:24] Speaker B: Yes. [00:24:24] Speaker A: This is odd. That's just to say lightly. Yeah, Georgia, I'm so sorry for doubting you. Well, you doubted them as well. You said Texas was going to win. I remember you said that. [00:24:39] Speaker B: I said Georgia was going to win. [00:24:40] Speaker A: You have no proof. [00:24:41] Speaker B: Oh, we don't have to prove Georgia. I could have sworn I said Georgia was going to win. [00:24:45] Speaker A: I. I could have sworn you said Texas. [00:24:48] Speaker B: I said Georgia. [00:24:49] Speaker A: I don't remember. [00:24:50] Speaker B: Cuz you said Texas. Texas A and M job to be Texas. [00:24:53] Speaker A: Did I say that? I did say that. You're right. [00:24:55] Speaker B: I was like, no, Georgia going to be Texas. [00:24:57] Speaker A: I don't think you said that. [00:24:59] Speaker B: I said it was going to be a field goal game. [00:25:00] Speaker A: All right, Devin's mom, we need you to come and clutch you. Did he ever say, she's going to say yes, I know, but not on the real, though. What a game by Georgia that was. Outside of Carson Beck being really stupid for a few plays and throwing two interceptions. What a game. Yeah, what a game I really liked. What? I mean, Georgia's defense, not Auburn. Auburn. You will never have a chance. I'm sorry, but. [00:25:22] Speaker B: Pew, pew. [00:25:23] Speaker A: Auburn, you suck. Go fire your head coach. Drop eight bags on a quarterback and you'll be just fine. I'm not disrespecting you. I'm trying to help you by making right choices. Because your athletic director thinks Hugh Freeze is the answer. Yeah, the only thing he's good at is recruiting, and that's about it. Go and hire a good young OC or DC and you'll be fine. And go drop about 12 bags on a quarterback from Kansas State and you'll be just fine. All right. But no, don't drop a 10 bags on a freaking guy from Michigan State who somewhat can't even throw at the side of a yard. I mean, he can't, but at the same time, it was talking about the Texas Georgia game. Wow, Quinn year was a little bit Overrated. I cannot tell that dude. They got bamboozled by a defensive line and they look like they were just deer in the headlights. I mean, Texas quarterbacks look like dookie. [00:26:20] Speaker B: Yeah. Because I wasn't this game expecting a showdown that didn't happen. 30:15 Georgia. [00:26:26] Speaker A: It got close. It got kind of close for a little bit. [00:26:28] Speaker B: But Georgia, they made a statement with that game. They said, oh, no, no, no, no, no, no. This is not Texas. Texas is league to take over the sec. Georgia is like, okay, we're going to make sure we get some parity up in here. We're going to make sure that you're going to get a welcome to the SEC sign. Kind of like Oklahoma and Tennessee and Georgia got the job done. And they, there was a statement game for them because they're like, all right, look, we lost the Alabama and now it's time. You know, this is our, this is our for the taking. The SEC is wide open right now. So Georgia, they're gonna make a fighting chance for them. [00:27:02] Speaker A: The one thing, though, the reason why I say that, you know, Georgia probably won this game without a doubt, was the defense. The defense was eaten up like the 85 Bears. They were cooking. They were cooking in the kitchen. They were cooking up some grits, some biscuits, some ham, some everything. They were cooking up a Thanksgiving dinner that Gordon Ramsay would cry over in a good way. They were on fire. I mean, they had. Jalen Walker had three sacks, and right before the game he had a one and a half. He's already gotten up to being a top 15 prospect in the NFL Draft by just that one game. Absolute masterclass by the defensive coordinator by Georgia. Congratulations. You become the next head coach for Auburn in about a couple of months. We'll see what happens there. But I think, though, before we right after this commercial break, we're going to talk about some of the main games coming up this weekend that we know you have a lot of questions about. We know that you are fascinated. You are so curious to hear our opinions, especially with how yesterday went with Syracuse and the great legendary Ohio State quarterback known as Kyle McCord. We're going to talk about that for a little bit, but right after this commercial break. We'll see you there. Wvuafm Tuscaloosa. [00:28:41] Speaker B: We are back, Student section, College Football edition. And you know, it's spooky season, Halloween coming up and you want to talk about freak shows. [00:28:51] Speaker A: Let's talk about Kyle McCord and making sure that he scars every living quarterback out there by how awful of performance. [00:28:59] Speaker B: He had, yes, he had a very scary performance in the first half. Three peak sixes, five interceptions. How do you feel about that, Josh? [00:29:07] Speaker A: Have you ever heard that's like some Nathan Peterman type business? I have never seen. Wait, I think Peterman, I think he's from Pitt. I could be wrong. I don't remember what college he went to. I think he was a. I forgot. All right, Kyle McCourty, if you ever listen to this man, I got a lot to say to you right here, man. What the heck was that? You throw three pick sixes, dog. What was that? You have done quite a good show for your revamped college career after having your career carried by Marvin Harrison Jr. And a stocked up wide receiver class and wide receiver team by. Okay, yeah, they did okay. So Peter man is from Pittsburgh. How funny is that, man? What the heck was that? I mean let's just put, let's put some respect first on Pitt. Pitt is a good team. [00:30:03] Speaker B: Oh yeah, they're a great team, man. [00:30:04] Speaker A: I mean never would have thought that they'd be balling out undefeated 70 right now with a really solid defense with a baller quarterback from Louisiana. And I mean they're cooking, they're cooking in the kitchen. They're cooking up a Christmas dinner that Martha Stewart be pretty proud of. I mean this is, this was impressive but Kyle McCoy, what the heck are you doing, bro? You throwing three picks, bro? He's throwing more picks than the Eagles did. Howard Roseman does all the time during draft day, bro. What the heck was that? I mean, you gotta be kidding me. Three pick sixes? I've never even seen that before. [00:30:41] Speaker B: I've never seen it either, dog. [00:30:44] Speaker A: That's so rare. I don't even think majority of high school quarterbacks do that. They usually know where to throw a target at. They probably do know where to throw football at. Three pick sixes is, it's. Let me can put it in perspective for anybody who does not watch football. So let me tell you like this, right? Imagine you go to your favorite restaurant in the world, aka FoodSackly, shout out to Food Sack Lees. We're not sponsored by them, but we really like their food, man. They're pretty good. You go to Food Sackley's, right, And you have a gift card for it. And a gift card for, I say twenty five dollar gift card, right? You go to Foodsackley's, you want to get yourself a good meal. And then it turns out that card had about 25 cents on it. [00:31:37] Speaker B: And you're like what A disappointment. That's embarrassing. [00:31:39] Speaker A: I got two other cards here. I got one for McDonald's and I got one for Guthrie's. Congratulations. They both got 25 cents on them. That's how it feels throwing three pick sixes in a game in the first half. Dog, pick up your game. Show why you did not get carried by a stacked wide receiver team at Ohio State and show the world who you are. That does not show you the world who you are by throwing five picks a pit. That ain't doing it, dog. Good lord. [00:32:11] Speaker B: When I saw that, I'm just like, wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute. I had to rub my eyes like, wait a minute. Am I looking at this? Like three pick sixes, like, what are you in the first half? Not. Not the whole game. [00:32:22] Speaker A: You can't tell me you've never seen that before. [00:32:24] Speaker B: You. [00:32:24] Speaker A: I haven't. [00:32:24] Speaker B: Oh, man, I've. Pitt. I mean, you gotta put respect on Pitt's name. Pitt's got a great, great team. But to do that against any. And you had D1 quarterback. Unless you're. You had a parlay and you needed that extra cash. Apparently nil is not enough for you to throw it in the hands of Pete and get them three touchdowns. I don't know. But I know somebody in Vegas was very happy when they made that drunk, outlandish parlay. [00:32:51] Speaker A: Oh, my God. [00:32:52] Speaker B: Who did that? Man, they. [00:32:54] Speaker A: They put the mortgage on it and now they're going to be working at McDonald's for about 45 years to pay it off. And I mean, that's just. It's just. It's just unbelievable. [00:33:05] Speaker B: It's just unbelievable. [00:33:06] Speaker A: I mean, McCoy had an insane uprising at Syracuse. He did, but he. The reason why he was a five star. His wide receiver in high school was a guy named Marvin Harrison Jr. And guess who his wide receiver was in College? Marvin Harrison Jr. And he'll got that no more. He's waiting for the little. Little brother of Marvin Harrison Sr. To pop up out of nowhere, hit a gross spur, and hopefully get carried by him as well. I've been shocked, man. I'm shocked. I mean, it's sad, it's weird. Shout the pit they balled out. But I think it's time. Now we make some predictions. [00:33:45] Speaker B: Oh, yes. [00:33:45] Speaker A: We got four games to talk about. These games we thought were the best four to discuss for the last 20 minutes we have of the show. Let's talk about the first one. Of course. We are here in Tuscaloosa. We have to discuss it. Alabama, Missouri, Alabama comes Off the loss against Tennessee, Jalen Milroe, he can't throw a football. The defense played okay, but Caleb Naboor is showing you probably why he was a very court a better head coach at NAIA than he is with the sec. What do you think this game is going to? [00:34:18] Speaker B: Well, I told you before, I had a little notepad. Then the next major game, I had a couple notepads. Now at my dorm, I have a huge whiteboard. [00:34:27] Speaker A: Very epic. That's what I'm saying. [00:34:29] Speaker B: Yeah, I have a whiteboard with all the questions. I'm going to take a picture of it before I hit the stadium and hopefully some questions could get answered because I still don't know anything about this team. Right when I think, okay, I know where things are headed. They let me down and we are tumbling down the stairs right now. Alabama needs to get their act together because this is another SEC team and you saw it. Missouri will and can't come back. I know we're not Auburn. We're way better than Auburn. But, but look, man, Missouri, they're going to win. They're not going to lay down. As you seen against Auburn, they came back, they won, and I'm sure they'll do it again in Tuscaloosa. So Alabama just better beware because the way you've been playing, I mean, I, I'm trying to vouch for you, but I just, I just don't know where things stand. But I do believe, oh, Lord, Alabama can win. Question mark. So give me Alabama. I don't even know what score it'll be like. I don't know where to go. High scoring, low scoring. The defense, I love the play. The plays, the players, they're making the plays. I got to give the defense Womack, please change the scheme so the defense can make those big plays. I feel like now that the defense is kind of getting into a rhythm, they will determine this game. So give me Alabama, 32 to 21. [00:35:58] Speaker A: You know, speaking of Alabama, one of my favorite movies I used to watch growing up was Forrest Gump. [00:36:03] Speaker B: Got to love Forrest Gump. [00:36:03] Speaker A: And one of the best, One of the best quotes from my movie is, life's like a box of chocolates. You don't know what you're gonna get. Nah, Alabama is like a box of chocolates because you don't know what you're gonna get. You get the one with like that weird looking like, like rat like raspberry jam crap inside of it and you're like, you want to throw up. That's how I Felt to watch Alabama when they play against Tennessee and Jill Milroe throwing to the knees. It doesn't make much sense. Now you talking about Missouri. Missouri has a very, very solid offense. I think if Bray Cook stays healthy, he can do some good damage. I love Luther Burden. He can get a little bit iffy sometimes. Right. And I think their team all around is not that bad. I don't think they're great, but I don't think they're bad. You know what I'm saying? [00:36:44] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:36:46] Speaker A: Because I don't trust this team at all. I don't. And when I really said that I thought Alabama was going to win last week, last weekend against Tennessee, I was wrong. Give me Missouri. Wow. I hope I get proven wrong. And if I don't, well, at least have a dub in somewhere. Give me Missouri. Give me Missouri. 42 to 25. What Graham, let's see what his predictions were. Ah, he hasn't put a prediction in yet. Well, let's see. Yeah, that's all good. [00:37:18] Speaker B: All right, so we'll, we'll get the Graham's predictions later. Yeah, but what's the next game that's coming up? [00:37:22] Speaker A: The next game. This is potentially the, you know, the biggest game of probably this weekend. It is the two undefeated SEC play teams left. It is LSU and A. Now this game, it's a good one. This is going to be a very good one. Both teams lost in week one to their own respective teams. Not really much outside Notre Dame, that's about it. But these are two very underrated teams in my opinion. LSU is coming off a win against Arkansas. That wasn't a trap game. That was a crap game for Arkansas. A M, they're getting up on the uprising. You know, both of them are balling. This is, this is a fun game. And this is at night game at Kyle Field. Tough, which is one of the toughest places to play in the college football world. What do you think this is going to happen, Devin? [00:38:21] Speaker B: Oh, man. I mean, lsu, they've got, they've tightened things up from that Ole Miss game. You know, they ended up winning in overtime. Arkansas, they fine tuned it and I think lsu, they're going to do fine. I feel like they're going to be competent against A and M. A and M is going to give them a fight nonetheless. Nussmeyer is going to make some mistakes as he does the defense. I feel like LSLU is a second half team and I don't feel like people's been noticing that. LSU is definitely a second half team. They'll play a little iffy in the first half, then they'll lock in. I mean, but I see Wit Weeks coming at A and M. He that dog, man. Whit Weeks coming at him. [00:38:58] Speaker A: Boom, boom, boom. [00:39:00] Speaker B: The only way I see LSU losing is Major Burns getting burnt. I mean, I'm going to be frank, just as transparent as can be. But Wit Weeks, man, I'm not a big LSU guy, but I will tell you and shout out to my dogs in 108 Baton Rouge. I love seeing Whitwick's play. He's a dog. So I'm going to take LSU against over A&M, 27, 24. [00:39:22] Speaker A: Well, I'm a big LSU guy. You will. You will find to learn that very quickly with the show. Shout out to my dad and my uncle. Love you guys. But let's put this in perspective. You know, Major Burns will probably get burnt once or twice in this game. Sage Ryan will probably get burnt once or twice in the game. Ashton Stamps will probably get burned once or twice in this game. And guess what? Grass is green. That's just how it goes. The defense for LSU is up and coming. This is actually so much fun to watch. Oh, yeah, the offense, it can get shaky a few times, but the run game is going good. The wide receivers are balling. They're doing the NOLA step. I mean, they're getting, they're getting greedy with. I mean, it, it's, it's fun to watch football in lsu, but this is not going to be easy game because these two teams are very similar in a lot of ways. But you have to respect A and M. You have to. If they don't respect A and M in that place, they're going to lose this game. But if you do what you did against Arkansas where you have, you shut them down and you continue to grow your lead. If you show that you can be able to score in the red zone and that's not called a field goal and you are able to continue to create turnovers and create stops, you can win this game. I pray that they win. Give me LSU. And I'm going to say here, give me LSU 40 to 25. 40, 25. [00:40:49] Speaker B: So you got a little more space now. [00:40:51] Speaker A: I have no regrets. Come at me. [00:40:55] Speaker B: All right, so Graham, my buddy Graham, he has. For the Alabama, Missouri game, he said 27, 23. And for LSU and a M, he said 35, 31. [00:41:05] Speaker A: All right, so let's talk about this. The third game we got, which is maybe when it comes to, regarding to probably the best football Game that's probably going to be happening at MetLife Stadium since the Giants can't do crap there and neither can the Jets. Let's talk about Notre Dame and Navy. It will be taking place at MetLife Stadium in New East Rutherford, New Jersey. This is a fun game to watch for so many different reasons. Notre Dame has been battling after that Northern Illinois loss. They have their own little running situation over there. But what do you think of this game? [00:41:40] Speaker B: Man, this is going to be a good one. This is a. Well, I mean it's not. Not be the biggest out known rivalry, but this is a rivalry. They play annually as far as. Yeah, they play annually. Navy and Notre Dame, it's classic and I feel like this year especially is going to prove it. Unlike years before where Notre Dame just straight bullies Navy. But man, Navy, they've got to transduce something amazing. [00:42:04] Speaker A: I mean, Navy and Army are on the upcoming race. [00:42:07] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, absolutely. [00:42:08] Speaker A: We can, we can agree with that. This is, this is going to be an interesting game. I really like this game a lot. People think that Navy has a chance of having the big upset here. It wouldn't surprise me. However, I do think Notre Dame was going to win this game. I think after that loss in Northern Illinois, I think they know that they. All they have is each other and they have to rebound. They've rebounded very well after, you know, after that game. I think they're going to win this game. I think it's going to be at least pretty close in the first quarter and that's about it. I'm going to say that Notre Dame is going to win this game 28 to 12. [00:42:47] Speaker B: 28 to 12. I've got the opposite. [00:42:49] Speaker A: Oh, you got the upset. [00:42:51] Speaker B: Give me the upset. Give me the upset. I don't. Notre Dame, they've got it. [00:42:56] Speaker A: They've got it. [00:42:57] Speaker B: They got some problems and they've got a good team. I do believe that this is going to be a close one. This is nonetheless, it's going to be a close one, but I don't think they're going to be able to handle Navy's option attack. [00:43:07] Speaker A: Man, that's. Yeah, Navy, they are a good team. [00:43:11] Speaker B: And I don't feel like we're giving this enough attention. Navy's defense can get the job done. This is something that's not getting highlighted. Navy's defense, they can get those stops and I feel like if Notre Dame can lose the niu, I feel like they can lose the Navy. If Navy's defense, there's another one that is going to come down to the Navy's defense. Are they going to make these stops against this Notre Dame team? Because Notre Dame, they can light up the scoreboard. But is it going to be, is Navy going to get those stops? And I believe they believe they can. I mean my father's in the Navy so I can't say this is unbiased. [00:43:42] Speaker A: I respect it. [00:43:43] Speaker B: Man, I really hope, I hope Navy pulls off this upset. This will be great. Because an undefeated Army Navy game that's going to be beautiful to watch. [00:43:53] Speaker A: Well, however it goes, we will say one thing for sure is that there will probably be more points scored in MetLife Stadium between both these teams combined than probably the jets and the Giants will do for the next couple of months. So. And we have our boy Graham who gave us his prediction as well. He believes Notre Dame will come up with a win 30 to 24. He thinks LSU will win that game and thinks Alabama will win their game as well. Finally I understand my score. Oh yeah, you never. Yeah, you never see. [00:44:18] Speaker B: Yeah, my score for the Navy game will be. It's not going to be that high scoring because it's going to be close. But I do have Navy 2719. [00:44:30] Speaker A: Ooh, that's a weird score. I like that score. I like that score. [00:44:34] Speaker B: The Navy is going to stop Notre Dame and to make them kick field goals. [00:44:37] Speaker A: And finally, let's talk about maybe a game that nobody thought would ever come down to being a trap game. Let's talk about Texas and Vanderbilt. Now this is as we all know, Vanderbilt is now a top dog team in the world. They're probably going to go to the national championship this year. I'm being sarcastic. I don't. I hope they do because it'd be pretty funny. But this is a really good Vanderbilt team who is now officially ranked. Wow. If you had that on a betting line that they would even be ranked this season. You're probably as happy as rich as blowing who probably put about price out happy as somebody who put about $5 in on Bitcoin when it came out. So I mean you're probably pretty happy with it. But this is also a Texas team who for a lot of reasons probably is probably still pretty po'd about losing to Georgia. Probably getting smacked up. They're two future first round quarterbacks looking like deer in headlights and and just saw had that thousand dollar stare after getting sacked multiple times. You got to have for an upcoming game here you want to have a game where you can have like a, you know, a resurgence and Show. Hey, we're, we're not overrated. We can beat this team. You got the upset for Navy and Notre Dame. Give me the upset for Vanny in Texas. [00:45:58] Speaker B: Wow. [00:45:58] Speaker A: Okay. I believe in Diego Pavia. I believe he'll bring his family out there again and they'll get hyped up again. It'd be funny, it'd be hilarious. And I'm cheering for them. Give me Vanderbilt in this game right here, 27 to 22. [00:46:16] Speaker B: Wow. And they are playing in, playing in Nashville or Austin. [00:46:19] Speaker A: Let me double check that while you make your prediction. You mind? [00:46:22] Speaker B: Yes. So when I heard that Texas and Oklahoma joined the sec, I'm not going to tell no story. I'm a bit of a traditionalist. I was not a huge fan. [00:46:32] Speaker A: This game is at Vanderbilt. [00:46:33] Speaker B: No, this is in Nashville. Wow. [00:46:35] Speaker A: 3:15Pm Game and Nashville, Tennessee on ABC, right? It is on SEC network. [00:46:42] Speaker B: Oh, SEC network. Oh, okay. So not national but golly, they're giving. [00:46:46] Speaker A: Texas a 90.6% chance of winning this game. Really? 90.6. I wonder whether you get a prediction when Alabama play though. [00:46:54] Speaker B: But man, I was not happy when Texas joined and I would also, I would make jokes say man, Texas ain't going to be at hand sec. They gonna lose to Vandy. They'll move to Vandy. They'll lose Arkansas, they'll lose, you know, all the other teams but Texas, man, they've proved me wrong on that one. Of course I was being sarcastic saying that they'll lose to teams like that. But here we are today, Vandy, Texas. And we live in a world where it is not too crazy that Vanderbilt can beat Texas. And have you ever seen a little thing online that's saying that Vandy actually has more all time wins against Texas? [00:47:30] Speaker A: I didn't see that. No. [00:47:31] Speaker B: Yeah, but you know the last win against things like 1930 or something. [00:47:36] Speaker A: Yeah, but I said probably World War II times. [00:47:39] Speaker B: Yeah, but they meet again in the year 2024. A year of complete craziness. [00:47:43] Speaker A: Good gosh, they lost something. Meh. Was. [00:47:45] Speaker B: Well probably the last time could have been. [00:47:47] Speaker A: I don't know Mike. [00:47:48] Speaker B: But Vanderbilt, come on, it's Vanderbilt. But I mean it's Vanderbilt now in 20 I can't do so. But Texas, I mean I've seen, you've seen the pictures online of Arch Manning and Quentin eras just looking just puppy eyed thousand yard stairs about Georgia and I feel like this is Steve Sarkeeson's wake up call saying all right guys, this was rl we need to hop back on it. So I'm going to take Texas for the win. Yeah, Texas is going to get the win. Realistically, or am I feeling upset? Yeah, maybe is the upset for me. So I'm going to have to take Texas. They're going to get their head back in, you know, back in the ringer, and this is going to be a bit of a shaky win in the first half. They're going to have to get used to that half stadium Vandy plays in. But I will be taking Texas. Vanderbilt 42 17. [00:48:49] Speaker A: Ooh. Okay. All right. So Graham has a very similar prediction. He has it 3416 for Texas. And since we have a little bit more time on our hands, there's a few. There's two games I do want to talk about briefly, if you wouldn't mind. I think the one game that I think could be a trap game as well in this game, Nebraska. Ohio State. Nebraska is 5 and 2. Ohio State is 5 and 1. This game is gonna be Ohio State at 11am get up in the mornings. I could think this could be probably a good game right here. Another game as well. Illinois and Oregon. [00:49:22] Speaker B: Oh, Illinois is on. You know, they're doing great. [00:49:26] Speaker A: They're on. They're on demon time right now, bro. I ain't gonna lie. They're 6 of 1. Oregon 7 0. This game is at 2:30pm at Oregon. It could be something. You never know. But we appreciate everybody who came out to watch and we appreciate you for listening in. We hope you have an amazing weekend. Stay safe, my friends, and we will see you all next Friday as this is the student section of college football. God bless you and good night. Good night.
