[00:00:00] Speaker A: WVUA FM, Tuscaloosa. [00:00:16] Speaker B: Hello, everybody. You are listening to WVUA 90.7 FM, Tuscaloosa. Student section fantasy sports my name is Jamie Martinez and I'm joined by Jake Riker, Lincoln Burkholder and Zach Elrod. On today's episode, we're going to be doing our 2023 to 24 NFL season redraft. We're going to randomize a draft order between the four of us and draft a fantasy lineup based on the final rankings of this past season's fantasy scores. Our lineups are going to consist of one quarterback, two rbs, two receivers, two flex spots, a tight end kicker and a defense. It might get a little hot. Some picks could be stolen. Who knows? There could be some fights ensuing. [00:00:59] Speaker C: I'm going to start throwing stuff. [00:01:01] Speaker B: Who knows? So let's get it started. I'm going to randomize this order. It's kind of like a number sequence thing. So Jake, you're the number one. Lincoln's two, Zach is three, I'll be four. Let's randomize. And the order will be who's two? Lincoln's first, Jake's second. Jake's second. Who is three, Zach's third. I'm fourth. [00:01:24] Speaker C: Oh, boy, here we go. [00:01:25] Speaker B: So, yeah, it's pretty much the same thing. All right, so Lincoln and we're going. [00:01:32] Speaker C: To do a snake draft, right? [00:01:33] Speaker B: Snake draft. [00:01:33] Speaker C: Draft. And we're going to do. This is all PPR ranking. [00:01:35] Speaker B: Yes, that is true. So Lincoln, first pick. [00:01:38] Speaker A: All right, let me grab these all rankings real quick for total points. Here we go. [00:01:44] Speaker C: You want me to make the pick for you? [00:01:46] Speaker A: I'm good. I think I got it. I think I've got my ideas here and I'm not going to take the number one player in fantasy football for pure positional value reasons. I'm going to take Christian McCaffrey far. San Francisco. [00:02:02] Speaker B: It's a good pick. Good pick. [00:02:04] Speaker A: The RB won this season. Second overall player behind CD Lamb. He had 391.3 fantasy points this season. He averaged more than CD Lamb, who he averaged 24 and a half, which was the most by any player this season by a long shot, by about a whole point. So not much explaining to do here. He was probably arguably the best player in fantasy football this season and the best of his position by a long and a large margin, to say the least. I'll take. Oh, and for a fun fact, he was the number one RB by 100 points. [00:02:37] Speaker B: Wow. He's just such a gritty. [00:02:38] Speaker A: He averaged eight more points than the RB. [00:02:40] Speaker C: Two. [00:02:40] Speaker A: Here comes Jamie seven more points than. [00:02:42] Speaker C: The RB two literally two minutes into the show. [00:02:45] Speaker A: So yeah, I'll take Christian McCaffrey as my RB. [00:02:49] Speaker B: 1 second pick. [00:02:51] Speaker C: Am I up? [00:02:51] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:02:52] Speaker C: On the clock? [00:02:52] Speaker B: Yes, you are. [00:02:53] Speaker C: All right, with the second pick. Second overall pick of the 2023 redraft of the student section fantasy show team. Jake Riker takes CD lamp wide receiver, Dallas Cowboys. [00:03:06] Speaker B: Good pick. [00:03:07] Speaker C: I like it. Wide receiver won this year. Beat out Tyreek Hill because Tyreek Hill missed. I mean, I'm assuming how many points did he beat Tyree Gal by? Like 27, it looks like beat Tyree Gal by 27 because Tyreeka missed that week. Who knows? If Tyreek would have put up 27 that week, it would have been close. But CD Lamb, I mean, absolute dog this year. Average 23, a little over 23 and a half. 23.7. Finished with 403.2 fantasy points this year. So I like him on my squad. Here we go. [00:03:37] Speaker B: All right, Zach, you are up third pick. Let's see where he. [00:03:46] Speaker D: Options. A lot of options. [00:03:47] Speaker B: I guess. [00:03:48] Speaker D: I got to go the number one quarterback, man. I got to get Josh Allen, QB off the board. Let me grab Josh Allen real quick. Number one quarterback for fantasy reasons this year. I mean, he balled out this season, kind of had a rough first start, but he finished the season off pretty strong. So give me Josh Allen. [00:04:08] Speaker B: All right. [00:04:09] Speaker A: I like it. [00:04:10] Speaker B: Yeah, I'm next up. This is a snake draft. Being at the last pick is a bit of an advantage. I get two straight guys. First pick, I got to see who I in the first round reaction. If you take my guy, I'm going to go RB. I'm going to go. Kyron Williams of the LA Rams was missed six weeks. [00:04:30] Speaker C: Wow. [00:04:30] Speaker B: He was the RB four, had the second highest average among running backs, two points behind Christian McCaffrey and average averaged 18 a game. Yes, he was the RB four, but he missed a good amount of time. I want a point monster. We all remember that one game he had where he had like four touchdowns and 40 points. I'm going to take Kyron Williams at this four spot, get a certified monster, second highest average and that's what we're after. [00:04:54] Speaker C: And next, you're not going to leave. You're not going to let him go out of the next past the turn, right? [00:04:59] Speaker B: I'm not going to let him go past the turn. I'm going to take Tyreek Hill at this wide receiver spot. The wide receiver two almost had 2000 yards this season. I couldn't let him go. I got my certified wide receiver one. My certified RB one. I'm looking set right now. Tyreek, he's a beast. Carried the Dolphins into the playoffs. So where are we? But we're back to Zach on the snake. [00:05:17] Speaker D: Back on the board. All right. Back on the board. I'm seeing a lot of good guys. I'm seeing some wide receivers. Hold up. I'm going to get the running. Tempting, but I think I got to go. [00:05:29] Speaker C: Who do I want? Dude, don't snipe me. [00:05:32] Speaker B: I can't get snipes already. [00:05:35] Speaker C: I hate getting sniped so bad. [00:05:37] Speaker D: I think I got to go with. Give me. Give me the Detroit line. [00:05:47] Speaker C: Oh, my God. [00:05:51] Speaker D: I'm a ray St. Brown, baby. Give it to me. [00:05:53] Speaker B: Jake got a snipe. [00:05:54] Speaker C: Whatever, dude. [00:05:58] Speaker A: That's who I was going to pick, too, but I wasn't expecting to get him in two picks, so. Jake, you're on the board, all right. [00:06:05] Speaker C: I was going to take Amon Ra right there, solidify my two receivers. Excuse me, with CD and Amen Ra, but guess I won't be doing that. Let's see. Wow. He finished number twelve in fantasy this year. [00:06:19] Speaker B: Do I take a whole lot of thought going into this? [00:06:21] Speaker C: I know this is, like, legit. [00:06:25] Speaker B: This is the most serious the show has ever been. [00:06:28] Speaker C: This is the most important draft I've ever drafted, and it doesn't count for anything. [00:06:33] Speaker B: All right. [00:06:34] Speaker C: With the second round pick, okay, I was ready to pull the trigger, and now I'm hesitant. I'm going to do it. I'm going the rookie Rams receiver. I'm going Pooka two for two. I'm doing it. I'm taking Puka. [00:06:50] Speaker B: I was hoping to get him on. [00:06:50] Speaker A: The, I think for 30 minutes over here as I reset again. [00:06:55] Speaker C: Yeah. My guy Puka. [00:06:59] Speaker B: Puka just signed a Niners jersey recently. [00:07:01] Speaker C: No, did you see that? He fake signed it. [00:07:03] Speaker B: He did signed it. [00:07:05] Speaker C: He, like, faked it. [00:07:06] Speaker A: And he got you, too. [00:07:09] Speaker B: I was hoping he'd come over. I knew where he wanted to be, man. Puka pump fake me. [00:07:15] Speaker A: Dude, I don't know where to go here now. [00:07:18] Speaker C: Because we could have an in draft trade. You want to do it? I'll give you puka if you give me your fourth round pick. [00:07:25] Speaker B: Whoa. [00:07:26] Speaker A: So I just finished with, like, one less player. Just like no defense. Just leave it off the board. Who needs one? Honestly, you'll be all right. [00:07:36] Speaker C: You can get someone off the waivers. [00:07:40] Speaker A: Dude, I don't know where to go here. I'm going to go trades off the board. Yeah. I'm going to go through it. I'm going to go first. Tight end off the board. I'm going to take the tight end one. Sam Laporta. [00:07:52] Speaker B: That's a good pick. That's smart. [00:07:54] Speaker A: The gap between Sam Laporta and the tight end two really isn't actually all that much. Evan Engram had nine less points than him. But the gap between two and three is about ten or eleven points. It's about a 30 or 20 point gap between Sam Laporta and the tight end three. He had a couple of blow up games with 41. I will say he was injured down the stretch, so it wasn't perfect. But he gave you 28 four and then 15 in the playoffs, which I wouldn't hate from a tight end position. He scored 339 points this season, or 239 points this season. Averaged 14.1 a game. He played every game? I believe so tight end one. Sam Laporta is going to come off the board here at the 204. I guess we got two lines. [00:08:42] Speaker C: I forgot. We got a snake. [00:08:43] Speaker A: Are we. [00:08:44] Speaker C: Shoot, I'm up next. [00:08:45] Speaker A: Yeah, you are. I've also got the 301 here. Don't slip me. [00:08:50] Speaker C: Don't slip me. [00:08:50] Speaker B: Don't slip me. [00:08:51] Speaker A: I mean, after Josh Allen, this quarterback board kind of is kind of bad. Like just flat out, so I don't really know. [00:08:58] Speaker D: Yeah, I think QB is the way. [00:09:00] Speaker B: Zach made a smart pick. With that Josh Allen pick, I actually. [00:09:03] Speaker C: Know who I want. I'm going to start writing them down in my notes on my team if I have to delete it. All right. [00:09:10] Speaker A: I'm going to take Bries hall. [00:09:12] Speaker B: Okay. [00:09:13] Speaker A: For the sole purpose of the fact that he gave 43 and 27 in the semifinals and championship, what do you think about that? He averaged. He had four or six games north of 20 points. Granted, one of them was in week 18, so probably not much use there. But he was the RB two this season, 290 points. Obviously way behind CMC, but I've got him, too. So 17.1 points. Huge per game. Huge playoff performer. I'm going to take Bries hall in the third round to finish out my RB core. [00:09:43] Speaker C: Do you think there's a way we could put these teams through a simulation and then we see, like on Madden. No, not mad. Like a fantasy simulation. [00:09:54] Speaker B: I don't know if that's this. [00:09:55] Speaker C: I don't know. We could do it by hand by next week. Just kidding. [00:10:01] Speaker A: Randomize the matchups and go week by week. [00:10:03] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:10:03] Speaker A: It's like a 300 page spreadsheet just for me to finish in last. [00:10:09] Speaker C: All right, dude, I was going to go with the running back with this pick, too, and I'm going to go with my guy that I wanted. I'm going to go. Travis ETN finishes three this season for Jacksonville. Lincoln brought up a good point. He looked at week 16 and 17 stats and Bries. Hall put up a freak show in the fantasy playoffs and ETN did not do the same. He put up six and 16 and he had a nice performance of 25.8 in week 17. But I like the value with Travis ETn. He had a great season all year long. I mean, finished with 282 points, averaged 16 and a half a week. I'll take him as my RB one. [00:10:47] Speaker B: All right, good pick, Zach. [00:10:49] Speaker D: Next up, looking ahead at the running backs, they all look the same now, averaging like 267. So I think I got to go with the tight end position. I think I got to do it. [00:10:58] Speaker C: Jamie, you're screwed. [00:10:59] Speaker D: Yeah, I got to get Trey or no, I got to get Evan Ingram. [00:11:04] Speaker C: Oh, I'm pretty sure you said Travis. [00:11:06] Speaker D: No, I didn't know. [00:11:06] Speaker B: I didn't know. [00:11:07] Speaker D: I didn't. For a second I thought Evan Ingram was taken off the board. No, give me Evan Ingram. Finalized. [00:11:13] Speaker B: You said Evan Ingram is where you're going. [00:11:16] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:11:16] Speaker B: Okay. [00:11:18] Speaker A: Great pick. [00:11:19] Speaker B: So I got the snake now I have Kyron at rv one, Tyree kill at wide receiver one. I do not have receiver yet. You're going zero RB. I think you're a wide receiver. Yeah, I think I'm going to go with the RB two on the season. I'm going to go Raheem Mostert. He hasn't been picked, right? Or am I tripping? Okay, Raheem Mostert. [00:11:41] Speaker C: Still there has two is Bruce hall. [00:11:44] Speaker B: I'm looking at this and it says he was RB, 2242 on the season total, but nonetheless the rushing touchdown leader of the NFL, Raheem Moster. He did miss the last two weeks of the season, so that was unfortunate. But nonetheless, high scores all across the board. Week three had 38, 31 and week six. So big scores and a lot of touchdowns for Raheem Mostert. I am completely fine with that. And now I'm kind of stuck on where to go with this. I was kind of set on getting Raheem Moster. I don't even know what I want to do with this next pick. Okay, nevermind. I do know what I want to go with this next pick. I'm going to go George Kittle. Bang bang. Niner gang. I had to do it. George Kittle had a phenomenal season. A lot of touchdowns. Probably one of the best seasons of his career. So I'm going to take Kittle at that tight end spot and leave Jake in the dust without a tight end. So that's where we're going to go back to Zach. [00:12:39] Speaker D: I need a running back. Need it now. So I'm going to go Rashad White before he's taken off the board. 267.9 fantasy points this year. I think it's a smart pick to go, so I'm going with him, bro. [00:12:54] Speaker C: Just sniped me twice. I'm sorry. [00:12:57] Speaker A: Jake. Jake, it's all you, man. [00:13:00] Speaker C: All right, my next pick. Since everybody's got a tight end now, I don't really have to worry about taking a tight end. [00:13:08] Speaker A: I'm putting Travis Kelsey at my flex. You be careful of. [00:13:12] Speaker C: I might leave mid show. [00:13:14] Speaker A: You be careful over there before I put Travis Kelsey at my first flex ball. [00:13:18] Speaker C: So I'm going to go with the quarterback. I'm going to go. Wow. Did he actually. Interesting. I think I'm going to go quarterback. Score a lot of points in fantasy. It's as simple as that. So Josh Allen was taken. I'm just going to go with the guy who scored the next amount of points. [00:13:35] Speaker A: And that's Jalen hurts. [00:13:38] Speaker C: Yeah, I was going to go Jalen Hurts. I saw him put up 1.6 in week 18, but that doesn't matter because my leagues don't play in week 18. So I'm going to go Jalen hurts. [00:13:45] Speaker B: There you go. [00:13:46] Speaker C: Why not? [00:13:47] Speaker A: All right, so now we hit a turn here. I got two picks and I don't have a single wide receiver. [00:13:53] Speaker C: Let's build some suspense. We're up at the 15 minutes mark. Let's finish this round. Since we're going back to the top and we'll get a break. We'll start off with pick one around four. Is it round five? [00:14:04] Speaker A: Yeah, round five. I've got a guy here. Wide receiver. One is going to be Mike Evans. He was not the next highest ranked receiver. He ended up as the wide receiver seven on the season. He averaged 16.6, but he had a lot of blow up games. He had looks like five or six games over 20 points, including one in the second round of the playoffs. He gave 15 in the first round of the playoffs and ten in the championship. So no real duds from Mike Evans in the fantasy playoffs this season. And only one dud on the season as a whole, not counting week 18. He had 1.8 points in week 14, but at that point, Mike Evans had already clinched you a playoff spot, so it probably didn't matter. [00:14:45] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:14:45] Speaker A: Mike Evans, my wide receiver, won and that caps out the first four rounds of the draft. [00:14:50] Speaker B: All right. And with that, we're going to be right back after a short intermission, continuing our 2023 24 NFL season redraft. We'll see you soon. You you. Welcome back, everybody. You are listening to WBUA, 90.7 FM, Tuscaloosa student section Fantasy sports we are done with our first four rounds of our NFL fantasy redraft of the 2023 24 season. We're back at it. Lincoln with the first pick. Let's get it going. [00:15:47] Speaker A: First pick of the fifth round. I have one wide receiver, two running backs and a tight end right now. So I've got a couple of options here. I got a couple of different ways that I can go with this. I'm not quite sure what I want to do. I had my eyes on like a wide receiver or two, but none of them are really moving me. Bunch of mid playoff performances, don't need that on my roster. I had way more than enough mid playoff performances this year. I don't need any more in my life. RB wise, it's a little interesting. It's a little fun. The RBs are fun. [00:16:25] Speaker B: Yeah, they are. [00:16:26] Speaker A: Not a lot of, it's a big drop off. Not a lot of elite, elite, elite performances here, but I'm going to take one. It's going to be Travis ETn, who was the RB three in PPR formats. [00:16:37] Speaker C: I already drafted Travis et. [00:16:38] Speaker A: Oh, you did? [00:16:41] Speaker C: You said Travis. I was like, he literally took Kelsey. I'm a Christian McCaffrey. Yeah. [00:16:47] Speaker A: All right, so I missed that one, which means we're going to revert back to my other option, which was to take DJ Moore. Good pick of Chicago. Despite quarterback issues for most of the year, especially with Justin Fields missing several games. He was the wide receiver, 6.16.9 points per game. He was a little off in the playoffs, but if he made it to the title game after his nine and four points, he scored 30. So there's that. If you made it all the way there, he had over 20 points several times this year, I think it looks like five. And he had 49 in that week five game against Washington when he scored three touchdowns. But apart from that he only had looks like five games under ten points and two of them he scored nine. So not a lot of duds from DJ Moore, which is what you're looking for, especially when I've got the ceiling of the two running backs. I'm going to take a good, consistent wide receiver who was pretty much the same tier the entire season. It's DJ Moore in my wide receiver, too, in the first pick of the fifth round. [00:17:41] Speaker B: Great pick. Hi, Jake. [00:17:44] Speaker C: Okay. I'm really scared. I don't know. Lincoln threatened me with taking Travis Kelsey in his flex, so I don't know if I want to let him wait any longer. [00:17:56] Speaker B: Take him or he's mine. I don't know. [00:17:58] Speaker C: This is so scary. All right, I'm going to wait. I don't think Lincoln is going to do that to me. If he does, then, well, that sucks. I'm going to take my second running back. He had a very slow start to the year with only six points, 5.68.2 and 5.1 in the first couple of weeks and then had a buy. No, he missed week five and six, it looks like. And then he came back and just shot off for the Detroit Lions. No, I don't want to take. I was going to take. [00:18:31] Speaker B: Don't roll tide. [00:18:33] Speaker C: I don't really like what I'm seeing there either. Of course I'm back on the standard. I'm going to go back to PPR. That's what it was. I see what you mean. It keeps going back to the standard ranking. [00:18:43] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:18:44] Speaker C: All right. Yeah, that looks much better. I'm going Jamir Gibbs at my RV, too, with my pick in the fifth round. [00:18:51] Speaker B: Roll tide. Yes. Someone. Zach's fiending. [00:18:59] Speaker C: All right, you're up, man. [00:19:01] Speaker D: All right, I'm up. I'm up. [00:19:02] Speaker C: There's no way. [00:19:03] Speaker B: He better not snipe me. I'm going to be really mad, I think. [00:19:06] Speaker D: I have a feeling I'm going to snipe you because I'm not going with a wide receiver, too. I'm definitely. Because the dip, like you were talking about, the dip with the running backs is definitely more dramatic. [00:19:16] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:19:17] Speaker D: So I got to go. My man, Joe Mixon. [00:19:19] Speaker C: Okay. [00:19:20] Speaker B: Thank God. [00:19:21] Speaker C: I seriously thought you were going to go. Travis Kelsey. I was like, you guys are so mean. [00:19:26] Speaker D: No, I'm going Joe Mixon. [00:19:29] Speaker A: All right. [00:19:30] Speaker B: Joe Mixon off the board. I need a second receiver. This is tough because there's not a lot of crazy left. I'm going to go with one of the most dominant receivers in the first half of the season. Injuries prohibited him in the tail end. I'm going to go. Keenan Allen of the Chargers averaged 21 points a game, which would have been third in the NFL, only behind Tyree kill and CD Lamb. He had a phenomenal season. I mean, his first half, 14 points, 31 45 on week 321 in week 640 in week ten and another 27 22. Just nonstop consistency from Keenan Allen. Only one week under ten points and it was a 9.5. He did miss the last four weeks due to injury and because the Chargers kind of sucked, but that's not his fault. He was a monster all season. 21.5 was his average and finished as the wide receiver eight. So I think that's a very good wide receiver, too, for me. And I have some guys left. This is next pick. I'm going to go. Do I really feel like being a terrible person today and taking Travis Kelsey? [00:20:39] Speaker A: I think you do. [00:20:40] Speaker B: I think I do. I'm going to take Travis Kelsey. [00:20:42] Speaker C: There's no way I'm going to take Travis Kelsey. I literally put him down. I was going to take him next day. [00:20:46] Speaker B: I'm going to take Travis Kelsey. [00:20:49] Speaker A: Best player on the board, man. [00:20:49] Speaker B: He is the best player on the board. He missed weeks one and 18, so only missed two weeks, but outside of that, yeah, he had a slower season compared to his usual, but a lot of big performances. 35 points in week seven. Really a model of consistency. 20 points in week three. And I feel like being a terrible person today. So I'm going to take Travis Kelsey and put him at that flex spot alongside George Kittle. So let's go back to Zach. [00:21:14] Speaker C: I think your team's horrible. [00:21:16] Speaker D: I was about to say that's what. [00:21:18] Speaker A: I'm going to do. [00:21:18] Speaker D: I'm going to take the other tight end and I'm going to take. Wait, did somebody pick TJ Hawkinson? [00:21:24] Speaker B: No. [00:21:24] Speaker A: Missed like the last 18. [00:21:26] Speaker D: He did miss the latice. [00:21:28] Speaker B: Be the funniest thing ever. [00:21:30] Speaker D: I don't know, though. [00:21:31] Speaker C: He is. [00:21:31] Speaker A: He's going to have to piece together. [00:21:35] Speaker D: It just takes a huge dip after TJ. [00:21:41] Speaker A: Takes a huge dip before TJ. [00:21:43] Speaker D: Yeah, true. [00:21:45] Speaker B: TJ averaged 14.6. [00:21:48] Speaker D: I think I got to go TJ. [00:21:49] Speaker C: Here's no way. [00:21:53] Speaker A: It's like Mark Andrews looks really appealing right now. As does both David Najoku and Trey McBride. [00:22:02] Speaker C: Yeah, I was going to say I'm going to go. [00:22:04] Speaker B: Let's get him stuck with Cole Comet. [00:22:07] Speaker C: I'm going to go David Najoku. [00:22:09] Speaker A: I have to. That was the most, like, sad tight. You didn't even want him, though. [00:22:15] Speaker C: No, I don't. I don't want him on my team. That's so sad. David Najo didn't have a horrible. All right, well, playoffs, he put up 16 and a half and 17 and a half. I'll take that. [00:22:24] Speaker B: He got stuck with a tight end. Six in a four person draft. That's right. [00:22:28] Speaker A: Real. [00:22:28] Speaker C: It's whatever. I got the wide receiver one and three or something like that. [00:22:35] Speaker B: This has been hilarious. I love this. [00:22:37] Speaker A: Which quarterbacks are off the board again? I'm not writing down everybody else. [00:22:40] Speaker B: I think it's only Hertz and Allen. [00:22:42] Speaker D: I think. [00:22:42] Speaker C: Allen, I think. [00:22:43] Speaker B: Yeah, I don't have a QB. [00:22:44] Speaker A: All right. In that case, I'm going to take the only quarterback who led me to a fantasy championship this year. It's Lamar Jackson. Good pick. Averaged 20.7 points per game finishes the QB four. Dak Prescott was the QB three. But the playoff performances were pretty dudesque. Classic late season Cowboys, whereas Lamar's playoff performances were 1822 and then 36 in the title game where he threw for 321 yards and five touchdowns on just 18 completions. So he absolutely blew up in a title game and he did everything that he could to take you there. He had another two games over 30 points this past season. He had several over 25. And basically most of his games outside of a three game stretch in the middle of the season from eight through ten where he had under 15 in each of them. Still above ten, though. Lamar Jackson was one of the best quarterbacks in fantasy football. He was the best quarterback in football and for that reason, I'm going to take him with my. This is my 6th round pick, I believe. [00:23:45] Speaker B: Yeah. All right. [00:23:46] Speaker A: And then we're going to go into the 7th round. Get. Let me get Lamar written down. All right, here we go. I've got two flex spots to fill still and not a lot of unfortunately. This is where this gets interesting because now everybody's about the same caliber of player, at least for the most part. There's a couple of top receivers still on the board, but they've fallen for playoff dud reasons. I don't really need an AJ Brown who can't give me 15 points in the three weeks that it matters. And I definitely don't need Stefan Diggs, who just disappeared completely off the face of the earth after week one nine. He was great for the first nine weeks and then they fired their offensive coordinator and I think the other guy just didn't know Stefan Diggs was on the team. [00:24:47] Speaker C: I just can't believe, looking at my roster, that David Nujoku is my tight end. [00:24:52] Speaker A: Oh, but he is. [00:24:53] Speaker B: I can't believe I have George Kittle and Travis Kelsey. This is awesome. [00:24:56] Speaker C: Well, I mean, Kittle's got to go in your flex spot because he can't put a left tackle. [00:25:03] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah, we knew it was coming okay. [00:25:06] Speaker A: A lot of chirp over there from the guy starting, David Najoku. [00:25:10] Speaker C: The rest of my team is on locks, though. Najoku turns up at the end of the year. [00:25:15] Speaker A: My whole team, plus my tight end is on locks. Dude, I'm seriously debating here, but I'm going to go ahead and rip it. I'm going to go. Devante Adams. That's a good pick. Adams was worse than, I guess, overall statistically than Stefan Diggs and AJ Brown this year, who were both still available, but the playoff performances were a little bit better. He had 37.6 in what was fantasy championship weekend. I'm going to choose to ignore the 1.4 points he put up in the second round of the playoffs because that's ugly. But he put up 24 in the first round, so he was obviously a down year for Devante. Adam standards. He had a five week stretch from weeks five through nine where he scored under ten points four times and under 15 the other time. But other than that, it was actually a pretty solid season, all things considered. He had 42 in week three. That was his peak. And then 37 was the second highest, as I mentioned, in the fantasy championship weekend. I mean, as a first flex in a four man league, I don't dislike that at all. [00:26:17] Speaker C: It was my turn. Yeah, well, good, because I finally get to make someone else upset because I know exactly who you were going to go for this and he's going to be my flex guy. It's Brandon iuke I'm taking. [00:26:28] Speaker B: I was really hoping to get him. He wasn't who I was going to go with, but I really wanted to end up with him. [00:26:32] Speaker C: He actually, looking through his stats, he finishes a 36th best fantasy player overall. But I mean, he started off the season hot with 32.9 and then he consistently got in the double digits. And then when it matters the most in week 16 and 17 in the playoffs, he got, let's see here, 17.3 and then 24 and a half. Like, I will take that for my flex spot. Make up for the David Najoku pick. [00:26:56] Speaker B: He's a top eight receiver in the NFL. [00:26:57] Speaker C: Brandon Ayuk, that's a great pick. [00:27:00] Speaker B: I love that. All right, Zach, who are you trying to steal from me next? [00:27:05] Speaker D: I really want to pick this player so bad, but he is kind of later on the board. Kind of had a rough start in the beginning of the year, but he came up really big in the playoffs. Had some big game or not in the playoffs, but just some late games. He couldn't really come up big in the playoffs because of his quarterback. Give me Amari Cooper. [00:27:27] Speaker B: Oh, I like that. That's a good pick. Amari Cooper. All right, so I'm going to make my pick, then we'll take a little break. A lot of options to go with here. I think I'm leaning towards a running back. I think I'm going to go torn between two guys. I'm going to go Bijon Robinson with my next pick. Bijon finishes rb nine and outside of his 0.4 and 0.3 and 5.9 performances, he was great all season. Every time that he was involved in the offense, he got points. First two weeks, 2021 points finished the season hot. 26 points in week 1827 points in what is this week twelve. So every time he was involved in that offense, he racked up points. But Arthur Smith doesn't know what he's doing. And so Bijon Robinson often was not involved in the offense and was blocking for John. Ooh, Smith. So that's not a recipe for amazingness, but nonetheless, Bijon Robinson, when he gets the ball, he scores. And in my fantasy team, I'm going to make sure he gets the ball. So with that pick, we're going to go right into a short intermission, continuing our 2023 to 24 season redraft. We'll see you soon. Bye. Welcome back, everybody. You are listening to WVUA 90.7 FM, Tuscaloosa. Student section, fantasy sports. We're back with our 2023 to 24 NFL season redraft. I'm not sure what round we're in. Is it like seven or eight? I don't know, but we're in 8th round. [00:29:32] Speaker A: Yeah, 8th round. [00:29:33] Speaker B: All right. So I just had my last pick. It's a snake. So I'm back. I'm looking pretty good right now. I've got two tight ends, but they're good tight ends so it works out. I was just thinking, who am I going to go for this pick? And the wide receiver five is still available. Now, I don't like the Philadelphia Eagles whatsoever, but he had zero, negative 0.1 points in week 18. But who plays week 18? So I'm going to go AJ Brown. He's there. He was the wide receiver five. He was great all season. So many big time performances. Has the best season of his career, 38 points in week 430 in week seven. Just a consistent, consistent player. Except for week 18 because Jalen hurts. He was mad at him or something. I don't know. But I'm going to take AJ Brown and I'm going to start him at a flex spot and move one of Travis Kelsey or George Kittle down to my bench. So that's where we're going to go with that. So next is Zach. [00:30:29] Speaker D: I think I need another flex position and I think I'm going to go with the chief man himself, Isaiah Pacheco. Multiple hundred yard rushing games, had a bunch of touchdowns and I mean, he's just been beasting, especially for them in the postseason. He's just been running like the tasmanian devil off Looney Tunes. So I like him, bro. I like him on my squad. So yeah. Going Isaiah Pacheco. [00:30:55] Speaker A: All right, Jake. [00:30:56] Speaker C: Oh, boy. I'm choosing between two players. I don't know which one is going to give me a little bit more value. Ooh. Ooh, I like that. I clicked on defense. What's going on? There we go. Well, that's even a bigger gap. All right. Actually, no, yeah, I'm going to go so because I have David Najoku and took a big gap there. The only thing that can. Well, I can't say the only thing that can save my team because my team is still pretty solid, but the one thing that can boost my team is get a big positional jump in other positions. So I'm going to go with the best kicker on the board by 21 points. I'm going kicker number one with Brandon Aubrey. [00:31:42] Speaker B: Great pick. [00:31:43] Speaker C: He finished with 181 points this year. And the second best kicker is Tucker, who had 160, which is 21 full points less. [00:31:51] Speaker B: Brandon Aubrey has saved Jake's team. [00:31:52] Speaker C: Yeah, you can make fun of najoku. [00:31:54] Speaker A: But as soon as week nine or. [00:31:57] Speaker C: Whatever, when Flacco pulls up and Brandon Albie's dropping 50 yarders, you don't want to play my team. [00:32:04] Speaker B: I do. [00:32:05] Speaker A: Yeah, I do, too, coming from the. [00:32:08] Speaker C: One that I beat both times. Advantage. [00:32:11] Speaker A: This year I finished like fourth in the league. Man. [00:32:14] Speaker B: Lincoln is Russell Wilson. [00:32:15] Speaker A: I was cooking. Like, let me cook. [00:32:20] Speaker C: He's Russell Wilson and I was the Kansas City Chiefs. [00:32:22] Speaker B: He's cooked. [00:32:22] Speaker C: This year. [00:32:23] Speaker A: I'm going to go a similar route to what Jake just did. They don't have a huge positional advantage, obviously. They're actually tied with the team for number one. I'm going to take the Ravens defense. Yeah. [00:32:33] Speaker C: I was either going to go Ravens. [00:32:34] Speaker A: Defense or Brandon Auburn because the Ravens defense, they didn't fall apart in the playoffs. They went 812 eight, which is fine from a defense, but they had over ten points in 123-45-6789 games this season, which is a lot for a defense. They averaged over ten points this season, you couldn't ask anything more from a defense other than to only score under five points one time in an entire season. In week 14, which is probably the least consequential week outside of like the first four if you've clinched a playoff spot, granted. But yeah. So my 8th round pick to close out the 8th round is going to be the Ravens defense, and then I got to go with a 9th pick, and I'm still short one flex spot here, which gives me some options. Gives me a couple options. Just a few options. [00:33:34] Speaker B: Snipe them. Nick Lincoln. [00:33:36] Speaker A: Don't do it, dude. I don't know who he wants. [00:33:39] Speaker C: He's like the best place to have. [00:33:41] Speaker A: Available because I'm not really seeing a lot of elite performances here. [00:33:48] Speaker C: He's not elite, but he's there. [00:33:50] Speaker A: Yeah, I mean, Diggs is there. [00:33:52] Speaker B: He's not elite. [00:33:54] Speaker A: I mean, he said he wasn't elite. Chase was mid this season. [00:34:00] Speaker B: Unfortunately, I took him second overall. [00:34:02] Speaker A: That was a bad pick because Jake Browning was the quarterback for most of the year. [00:34:07] Speaker C: His fantasy play. [00:34:11] Speaker A: I'm actually going to go with a little bit of a wild card here because he also helped win me a fantasy title. His name is Rashid Rice. [00:34:19] Speaker C: Okay. [00:34:20] Speaker A: Over the last six weeks of the season, for fantasy purposes, he had 20, 414, 1820, 411 and 17, which is wide receiver. Two numbers from a guy that prior to that was about a flex option at best. But he still did have a 17 point game and four other games over ten points in the stretch. Prior to that six point game or six game streak, he did finish as the wide receiver, 27. He only averaged 13.3, but that late stretch is when you really need a push, and Rishi Rice was giving that to managers, and I want him to help me do that with a couple of big playoff performances down the stretch as he started to separate himself from that group in Kansas City. [00:34:59] Speaker C: All right, I actually completely switched my mind. I was going to go with, well, I can't say in case someone forgets about them, but just I'm going to fill my other flex guy with another wide receiver from the NFC west who had a pretty consistent year, averaged 14 a week, missed one week besides his buy, and then fantasy playoffs put up 15.6 exactly in both of them. I'm going with DK. Metcalf had a pretty solid year, only had one two weeks under double digits. Besides Week 18, I'm not going to count that because most people don't have playoff indications that week. So I'm going to go DK I mean, he dropped 37 one week, 17 consistently, a couple of 13 point weeks, but if he's my flex, too, why not? [00:35:49] Speaker D: All right, I need a defense. So I think since Lincoln already got the Baltimore Ravens, I got to get the Dallas Cowboys. [00:35:56] Speaker B: Yes. [00:35:57] Speaker D: Give me the Cowboys defense, baby. [00:36:00] Speaker B: It's a good pick. That's who I was probably going to go next. [00:36:02] Speaker A: Check those playoff numbers, though. That was my. [00:36:09] Speaker B: Oh, okay. [00:36:11] Speaker A: They had like five combined points in the three playoff games. [00:36:14] Speaker B: Okay. So with my next pick, I'm not sure where to go. Do I get myself a nice little kicker? Screw it. Let's get Justin Tucker up in this place. I'm pretty sure he was the kicker, too, unless I'm missing something. Averaged 9.4 on the season. He's one of the best kickers of all time. So it's a good pick. I got my kicker next. I'm going to go with my last bench spot. Finish out the bench, finish out my guys. There's a few dudes I could go with, but I'm going to go with a guy that missed a decent chunk of the season. But when he played was a dog. And that's Alvin Kamara. He was the RB eleven. Missed the first three weeks of the season and the final week of the season, but nobody plays week 18. But in every single game, he was incredible. 21 points, 18, 1737, another 30 every week. He was insane. And this is PPR. So Alvin Kamara is going to get a bunch of points. Averaged 17.9 on the season, which would have put him in the top five of averages. So Alvin Kamara is going to wrap up my bench and, yeah, I still don't have a quarterback, but it's okay. We're playing the smart. [00:37:38] Speaker A: He's picking Brock Frodo on the left. [00:37:42] Speaker B: That could be the smart move. [00:37:44] Speaker D: All right, so I do need to pull out my bench because I got two bench spots, but I do need a kicker. But I think I'm going to go for that bench spot. Has anyone picked Jamar Chase? [00:37:56] Speaker B: No. [00:37:58] Speaker D: I know he has not had a great season, but he had some big games, including a 50 point game, and it's on my bench, so why not? What the heck? Jamar Chase? [00:38:10] Speaker B: What the heck? [00:38:12] Speaker A: All right, Jake. Saw you, man. Round ten. [00:38:18] Speaker C: I'm going to fill. What is so funny, David? [00:38:22] Speaker B: A joker. [00:38:26] Speaker C: Literally, every time I look at my lineup, I'm like David the joker. It's like an all catholic stream. All right, let's look at his year. It can't be that bad. While I'm still scrolling to find him. Okay, let's just go to tight ends. [00:38:41] Speaker B: He's going to hit another. [00:38:42] Speaker C: Okay. I don't want to waste time on David Njoka. I'm going to take Derek Henry for my bench spot. [00:38:46] Speaker B: Has it really not been picked? [00:38:47] Speaker C: No. [00:38:48] Speaker B: Oh, wow. Okay. I didn't know that. Kind of thought he had a couple. [00:38:52] Speaker C: Sloppy weeks, but overall average, like 14 a week. So, I mean, if he's coming off my bench for ETN and Gibbs, might as well. Maybe I could throw him in for a flex when he's playing against a poor defense. I think he had like 28 one week. I could throw him in there, but, yeah, I'm going. Derek Hendry. [00:39:09] Speaker A: All right. I'm going to actually push Rashid Rice to my bench here because he had a great end of the season. And by the end of the season, he will be replacing the flex that's going to sit in there for the first nine weeks. And it's Stefan Diggs, who I still believe hasn't been taken, correct? [00:39:23] Speaker B: No, he hasn't. [00:39:24] Speaker A: Yeah. So Stefan Diggs is going to be my flex for nine weeks and then we're going to put Rishi Rice in because Stefan Diggs forgot how to play football. Unfortunately, he's lost. Nowhere to be found. So Stefan Diggs will actually be my second flex, will be my pick in the 10th round. And then I got to hit a little turn here to the 11th. I still don't have a kicker. There's the third best kicker available still here, so I don't see why he's actually tied for second. They both had 155. I'll take Jake Elliot in Philadelphia. He averaged 9.1 points this season, very respectable from a kicker. He had 17 in the second round of the playoffs and eight in the championship, which are pretty good numbers. And for that first five game stretch, he scored over ten in every single game and scored 18 twice. So very good free kicker this season obviously fell off a little bit as the Eagles offense collapsed down the stretch, but still the kicker, too. So I'll take Jake Elliot in the 11th round. [00:40:19] Speaker C: It's a solid pick. I'm actually going to wait to take my kicker for the last round, the twelveth round coming up next. So I'm going to fill my second bench slot. I'm going to go with a receiver. I went really receiver heavy this draft, but that's all right. He missed a couple of weeks, but when he played, he was a stud and he put up two great, phenomenal playoff weeks in 1617. I'm going to go with Nico Collins. [00:40:42] Speaker B: Great pick. Great pick. [00:40:45] Speaker D: All right, Zach, with the end approaching, trying to find a good slot for my bench because I think I'm going to wait on the kickers because they're pretty even down the stretch. Definitely don't want Tony Pollard. [00:41:05] Speaker C: You want to make a trade? Let's do a trade. Whoa. [00:41:09] Speaker B: Who are you looking at? Me? I don't know. You want Travis Kelsey, don't you? [00:41:11] Speaker C: Give me a tight end. [00:41:13] Speaker B: Nobody give him a tight end. Do not give him a tight end. He's not getting nothing out of me. No way. [00:41:19] Speaker C: Oh, my gosh. [00:41:21] Speaker A: Actually, my phone's not working. Yeah, power in the office is out. [00:41:25] Speaker B: Not taking calls. [00:41:26] Speaker C: Right. Yeah, makes sense. [00:41:28] Speaker B: Sorry about that. [00:41:30] Speaker C: You guys are tripping. [00:41:31] Speaker A: Like, literally. [00:41:32] Speaker C: He went ten after not gassing up. David? [00:41:35] Speaker B: No, after. [00:41:36] Speaker A: We're not. [00:41:36] Speaker C: The first six weeks were like mid, but as soon as week seven hit ten. 1712, 1112. [00:41:44] Speaker B: That's not like Travis Kelsey. [00:41:45] Speaker C: Numbers 27, 20, 616, 17. Y'all. Y'all are sleeping. David Ojoker is that guy. He's that guy. Whatever. [00:41:54] Speaker D: Dang. I really don't know who to pick. [00:41:56] Speaker B: What the heck? [00:41:56] Speaker C: I think you won. [00:42:00] Speaker B: Just take a defensive player. [00:42:02] Speaker D: A defensive player? [00:42:04] Speaker B: Yeah, just take like, TJ Watt. [00:42:08] Speaker D: You know what I'm going with. Give me James Cook. Why not? [00:42:15] Speaker B: That's a great pick. He had a really good end of the season. That's great playoff performances. All right, so these are my last two picks of the draft and I don't have a quarterback, so I'm going to take that last. So I just need a defense and a QB. I'm going to go defense first and take the Bills defense. They finished third on the season. They were great. 17 points in the Super bowl. I'll take that. Week three had 32 points. Week eleven had 21. Pieced up a lot of big performances throughout the year. So, yeah, I'll take the Bills at that three spot and at quarterback for my very last pick. So many ways I can go. I can go CJ Stroud, I could go Jordan. Love Patrick Mahomes. But you all know who I'm taking. It's easy. I'm going Dak Prescott, the QB. Three on the season. [00:43:09] Speaker A: I got to not name Brock Purdy. [00:43:11] Speaker C: He's ruined the show. Take that back. Take Brock Purdy. [00:43:16] Speaker A: Upset me. [00:43:19] Speaker B: I'm like really looking at Dak Prescott. He had a good year. I don't like Dak Prescott whatsoever as a Niner fan. Actually, you know what? [00:43:28] Speaker C: What did he do to you? [00:43:29] Speaker B: He's a cowboy. [00:43:30] Speaker A: He's done nothing to you. [00:43:31] Speaker B: Except for lose in the playoffs to the Niners. That's why. You know what? Screw it. Brock Purdy. He's my quarterback. Because it doesn't hit the Brock Purdy. He was. [00:43:43] Speaker C: Gaslighting. Hold on, hold on. [00:43:45] Speaker B: QB six. Missed the last week of the season in week 18. Had a bunch of great performances. Was always in double digits. Had 26 in week eleven. 232-021-2225 so many big points. [00:43:58] Speaker C: Take Dac crook. Take Prescott. [00:44:00] Speaker B: Should I take DaC? I mean, I can take any QB I want. [00:44:02] Speaker D: Third guy. [00:44:03] Speaker B: I can go Sam Howell. No. You know what? Brock Purdy. I'm going to go with him. Screw it. I'm sticking with Brock Purdy. I'm done. Brock Purdy is my pick. I need his jersey still. But it's okay, all right? [00:44:16] Speaker D: Now that Jamie has picked Brock Purdy, or do I go, dad, I definitely need. [00:44:21] Speaker B: I'm sticking with Purdy. [00:44:23] Speaker D: Okay, it's finalized. It's finalized. We're done. We're done. Okay. I need a kicker, so I'm going Cairo Santos from the Cincinnati Bengals. Got to finish it out. [00:44:38] Speaker B: That'd be the craziest thing ever. [00:44:40] Speaker D: Yep. Finishing out with Kyro Santos from the Cincinnati Bengals, baby. [00:44:47] Speaker B: I'm saying I didn't know that it was a panther. Hold on. [00:44:52] Speaker A: No, he's a bear. [00:44:54] Speaker D: Oh, my bad. [00:44:55] Speaker B: Bear. [00:44:55] Speaker D: Bear. [00:44:55] Speaker A: Close enough. Honestly, should have went. [00:44:57] Speaker B: Cameron. [00:44:57] Speaker C: Dick, I need a defense, so I'm going to go the Bills defense because they're still there. [00:45:01] Speaker B: I already took the Bills defense full. What defense is anything under three? [00:45:06] Speaker C: Okay, then I'll take the jets defense. Best defense there. [00:45:09] Speaker B: There you go. [00:45:10] Speaker A: Defense goes undrafted. [00:45:12] Speaker B: That is crazy. [00:45:13] Speaker A: Yeah. My final bench spot. So I filled the Stefan Diggs void where he had nine weeks where he did nothing. Now it's time to fill the Devante Adams void where he had five weeks, where he did absolutely nothing. And I'm going to fill that void with DeAndre Swift in Philadelphia. He averaged 12.5 points on the season, which a lot of that is swayed by his final six games where he scored over ten points just one time. But that didn't seem to matter for the most part. He'd be sitting on my bench by then for Devante Adams anyway. And the stretch where Adams was bad, Deandre Swift was great from weeks two all the way through week not through week eleven. With a week ten buy in between. He had only one game where he scored under ten points, and all but three of them were over 15, including a 27 pointer in week two, which is when he obviously blew up on the waivers. But yeah. So my final spot is going to be filled by DeAndre Swift in Philadelphia. [00:46:10] Speaker B: All right, so that was the last pick in the draft. That's crazy. All right, so before we go off the air, let's go around the table. Yeah, let's go around the table and read off our teams. We'll go Jake Lincoln. Zach, me. So read your team, Jake. [00:46:23] Speaker C: So I got jalen hurts QB one. I got ETN and Jameir Gibbs. At running backs, I got c. Lamb, puka nakua. I think I got the best wide receiver core in the league if you ask me. Tight end David Ajogu Flexis. I got iuk and Metcalf defense, I got the Jets d kicker Brandon Aubrey. And then my two bench guys, King Henry and Nico Collins. [00:46:46] Speaker A: All right, before I start, I want to give a shout out to seven years ago today, the Patriots came back 28 to three in the Super bowl. [00:46:54] Speaker B: Sorry, Julio Jones, if you're listening. [00:46:55] Speaker A: Yeah, that. Sorry, Julio Jones, and Matt Ryan, if you're listening. Yeah, Kyle Shanahan. Please don't do it again. [00:47:01] Speaker B: Please don't. For the love of God, I will cry for a week. [00:47:03] Speaker A: Please do not do it again. [00:47:05] Speaker B: I will cry a lot, but yeah. [00:47:07] Speaker A: My QB was Lamar Jackson. My rbs were Christian McCaffrey and Bries hall. Wide receivers were Mike Evans and DJ Moore. My tight end was Sam Laporta. My flexes were Devontae Adams and Stefan Diggs, along with Rashee Rice and DeAndre Swift. And then my defense and kicker were the Ravens and then Jake Elliott. So I'm really happy with that team. Actually, I think that turned out really well. [00:47:31] Speaker B: Boom. [00:47:33] Speaker D: All right, I got the best QB in fantasy, Josh Allen, RB. One is Rashad White or Rashad White. And then RB two, I got Joe Mixon, and then on the outside I got wide receiver one, Amay St. Brown, Ame Ray St. Brown, and then wide receiver two, I got Coop and then my flex. I got TJ Hawkinson. And my other flex I got Isaiah Pacheco. And then tied in Evan Ingram. Then for my defense, I got the Cowboys defense with my kicker being Kyro Santos. And then on my bench, I got Jamar chase himself. And then on my bench I got James Cook. [00:48:10] Speaker B: All right, finishing it out. My draft, it went QB Brock Purdy, last pick in the draft, as it should be. RB one, Kyron Williams, RB two, Raheem Moser, wide receiver one, Tyree kill two, Keenan Allen Flex AJ. Brown and Bijon Robinson. Tight end George Kittle, kicker Justin Tucker, defense, the Buffalo Bills bench Travis Kelsey and Alvin Kamara. A great draft with the guys. Whole lot of fun. Go vote who you think had the best draft somewhere, wherever you want, we don't know, but that's going to do it for this episode.
